Finished analyzing the scan data and I WAS FUCKING RIGHT!!!
my boss and I both analyzed separately to try and remove some bias (since I was obviously biased for and he against), but both of us found that ocular blood flow with this drug increased by a very large amount at the doses I suggested. So so SO vindicating to have PROOF that my weeks of research resulting in me finding out that we (as well as like a dozen other published studies) massively overdosed with this drug because everyone was using a conversion formula incorrectly. And another study showed that overdosing with this drug can actually have the reverse effect and restrict blood flow, which we were seeing in our initial scans.
all of that’s to say: I just saved this 2 million dollar project from producing false negative results for the second time.
#First time I discovered a chemical property of the drug that would’ve invalidated all our chronic study results (which is the main focus)-#-because we would’ve been accidentally filtering it all out and would’ve gotten false negatives because the animals weren’t actually-#-being dosed at all#This time I figured out we were massively overdosing for the acute study (literally 4x-20x the effective dose)-#-which also was giving false negatives to the point that the PI was rethinking testing this drug#ANYWAYS I’m paid $15k less than the MEDIAN pay for my position but have saved the project millions#And my annual review is coming up so you KNOW I’m gonna be like:#“Yes hello. I now officially have my MS. I have a year of experience. AND I saved this project twice. I deserve more money”#And he won’t give it but that’ll be fine because I don’t plan to stay in NC much longer#runon post
