It's worse when a scene comes along in which character A goes, "Yeah, I'm getting therapy/doing some other thing to help me out now." And for a minute you're like "Ah, that's good" until character B says, "Oh, that's great anyways- (TRAUMA DUMPS SO HARD WE GOTTA MAKE A NEW GENRE OF LANDFILL)" and now you're like "MOTHER OF GOD NOT YOU TOOOOOO"

If I had a nickle for every time I consume a piece of media and get a sense of "everyone here needs therapy" I'd be filthy rich I swear to God

tbh I can't stop thinking about how i went into Hadestown being like "this is a tragic love story based on a greek myth I enjoy :)" and I came out the other side covered in blood being like "this is a thesis about how capitalism inevitably leads to both personal and global ruin, and so we are duty bound to resist it even as we lose, again and again and again. no matter how impossible it feels or how many times we fail and hit a wall and fall, we try again"
