So I’ve promised myself that 2019 is the year that Laelines gets launched..
I’ve been working on this story since.. forever, basically. I have drawings of these characters stretching back to middle school. I drew inspiration from Dragon Ball Z, Tamora Pierce, and JRR Tolkein: a strange combination of impressions to be making on a weird pre-teen, but what burst forth was a story about clinging to things we can’t control, and learning how to grow. At the time, I didn’t know how--I still felt feral and animal myself. I wanted to tell a story that captured a sense of what I was going through. Laelines is therapy for me, a love child of everything I’ve ever wanted to see in a fantasy story and my own experiences as a troubled kid. These people, these characters, have been with me a long time, with stories and thoughts I’ve kept inside for a while. When it comes down to it, Laelines is about people going through heavy shit in a world of fantasy and magic.
I really hope you like it. Enjoy my sketches and WIPs, and soon, pages. :)
