Goddess’ guide to dating yourself
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but ladies we need to start dating ourselves.
Whether you are in a relationship or not, you need to do this.
Why?
Because your best relationship in your life should be with yourself. In fact, your longest relationship is with yourself. Show your self some love! Fall in love with yourself. Dating yourself can help you become more confident and secure with yourself. It can help us know our worth.
1. Find something you are passionate about and hone in on it! This is your chance to do and try new things until you find something you like and even when you find something you like, keep trying things. Go back and do things you used to do and see if you still like it. Try painting, photography, yoga, reading, guitar, knitting… the list is endless.
2. Become more independent!
Is there something you’ve always wanted to do but never did because you were waiting for someone else to do it with you? This is your time to do it by yourself. Life is short, you don’t have time to wait for someone else to do something with you. Go take that class by yourself, go see the world by yourself, go shopping by yourself, take yourself to that new restaurant.
3. Get to know yourself more!
In more ways than one, you should get to know yourself. My favorite way to do this is to answer those question prompts from pinterest. They can help you find your passions, your limits, your dreams, your desires. Find your limits and boundaries. Things that you will and won’t put up with anymore and stick to them. Also, Masturbation, ladies. Know how to make yourself feel good. Your pleasure shouldn’t be solely dependent on someone else.
4. Get in tuned with your body and mind!
Try meditating, journaling, yoga, vision boarding. Learn what your body likes and dislikes. Do your makeup a new way. And then do it again. Get a massage or facial. Or DIY it. Wear that killer outfit you’ve been saving. Do a photoshoot. Find your angles. Do breath work. Affirmations. Therapy can do wonders for your life.
Date ideas?
1. Take yourself on a picnic. Pack a cute basket of your favorite snacks and foods. Grab a bottle of wine and a blanket and sit with yourself in the park. Maybe read that book you’ve been meaning to.
2. Watch a movie. Years ago, I used to buy matinee tickets, buy popcorn and watch movies at the theater by myself and it was wonderful. You can do the same at home.
3. Go to a restaurant. I know the allure of take out will be hard to resist but do it! Dress up in your finest outfit. Make your makeup and hair killer. Take yourself to the cute cafe or restaurant you’ve been dying to try. Order something new. Savor your food.
4. Take yourself to the store. If you’re a bookworm like me, I’d suggest Barnes and noble or another book store. If you’re not a book person, try a clothing store or a tea shop or other specialty shop. Go to a store you’ve never been to. Take your time, look around. Take pictures of everything. Imagine yourself buying something. Actually buy it, if you can. Take note of all the things you want in that store.
5. Organize. Hear me out here. Make a date out of de-cluttering and organizing. Turn on your favorite playlist or tv show or podcast. Start clearing out things you don’t need and make room for new things. Sing at the top of your lungs. Dance like no one’s watching. Make a fashion show out of it. Make your house cozy and smell good. Let it become a place you enjoy being in.
Get out there and do the things you love to do! Fall in love with life!

There’s a lot of things going on this year. Words can’t describe it enough but sometimes photos and illustrations help. It’s crazy because black girls and boys have been historically perceived by white adults to be older, more mature and less innocent. Which has been problematic to say the least.

Can I get a cursed Wolf fact?
Dire Wolves were a real actual animal that lived in North America until right about 10,000 years ago, but they really weren’t much bigger than modern grey wolves! they were slightly more heavyset, but that’s about it.
however, their packs were much much larger than modern wolf packs, sometimes containing as many as 50 individuals.

effective language learning: six essential tips
over the past year, i’ve amassed a great love for language learning. despite not making a ton of progress (since every language is so beautiful and i swap between them like clothes) i’ve learned so much about the most important things to know when learning a language. here are some of my tips. :)
1. study smarter, not harder. attempting to achieve proficiency in a language in a ridiculous amount of time like one week or one month is not a good way to study. becoming proficient in a language takes years, and you should not expect to reach such massive goals in a short amount of time. take your studying piece by piece, day by day, and learn at a pace that’s fast enough for you but also not fast enough to where you will burnout.
2. collect at least 3 resources. a very important thing to keep in mind is that you can’t expect to achieve proficiency from a single source. for example, you can’t learn a language entirely from duolingo or entirely from an app on your phone. it may be effective and you may learn a lot, but you’re not gathering information in the most beneficial way as apps don’t do the best job at explaining grammar. at the very least, you should have a main resource (like a textbook or online course), an app or supplemental practice resource (like Duolingo, Drops, or Memrise), and a third supplemental resource for a specific topic (like a grammar book, a dictionary, or a vocabulary book).
3. study every day. study daily. whether it’s just learning a new vocabulary word on duolingo or having an hour long study session with your materials, study. if you’re learning more than one language at a time, this may not apply to you - i’m currently learning 4 languages and don’t do something every day. if this is the case, try to get a bit of instruction in once per week. it’s important to practice what you’ve learned or else you will lose your knowledge of the subject.
4. practice grammar consistently. a language i’ve certainly had a love-hate relationship with is korean, which is very pretty when spoken but the grammar (and even vocabulary at times) is god awful and ridiculously difficult. at one point in my studies, i reached up to lesson 6 in my curriculum which deals with every main korean conjugation (past, present, and future). i took notes, but never practiced what i learned, and ended up losing the topic. that’s why it’s so important that you a) take your studies one step at a time and b) practice what you’ve learned until you master it. a good rule of thumb is that if you can teach the topic to someone or explain the topic in easy to understand a language (as in a first or second grader can understand) than you’ve mastered that topic.
5. revise old skills a thing i like about duolingo is that they make you go back and restore any old skills, which is something you should do in every language. if you’ve been studying a language for a few weeks, go back to the things you’ve learned a few weeks ago to make sure you still understand.
6. practice with a native/fluent speaker using apps like HelloTalk is a great tool for practicing your skills. practice what you’ve learned with a fluent or native speaker, and make sure you have them correct what you’ve learned as you go. keep in mind that the person you converse with doesn’t have to be fluent, as long as they have a good background in the language.
i hope these tips can excel your language studies going forward!
