Getting started on an animation project
And it starts with rigging.
I’ve asked to help out a friend with their current project to do animations for them. I’ll talk more about the project later when it’s easier to show things but at the moment I’m very excited.. and a little nervous.
The project has a large number of animations that need to be done, and because it being a simulation type game, the animations will be selling the game quite a bit - for the believability and charm.
On top of that we’re trying for the PAX indie showcase, which means we need to be picked over other games to be displayed there. What this boils down to is there isn’t a lot of time to make a large quantity of animation that also needs to be quality. And on top of that: trying to juggle the rest of my life.
So, excited and nervous definitely sums it up; and throw in stressed a few weeks from now for good measure.

The fairy
I’ve started a subscription with Plural Sight and been practicing using their online tutorials. You may now see some of my work from there.
Both characters belong to Plural Sight and the fairy/butterfly (I see both) animation wasn’t made by me.
The character animation was all me however, and I added a lot to it from watching the tutorial.
The animation is not fully complete and polished but it’s at a standard that I’m happy with and I’d rather keep practicing on newer scenarios.
