Aw, looks like someone special picked you flower-oh, no, wait, they’re eating them. Yeah, sorry, they’re just eating them.

"And in the whiteness, of the whiteness, flowering in the tattered water, their bodies arching with the streaked marble hollows of the waves, their manes and tails and the fragile beards of the males burning in the sunlight, their eyes as dark and jeweled as the deep sea—and the shining of the horns, the seashell shining of the horns! The horns came riding in like the rainbow masts of silver ships."
(a scene from The Last Unicorn, and also a custom request from last year’s Kickstarter!)

In January I dived straight into two amigurumi projects, rather ambitious for a beginner and someone who tends to give up or run out of steam halfway through things 🙃
Tumblr media
The first one is a ball python. I jokingly asked my husband if he wanted me to make him something, and he said "a full sized Indian python" 🙃 We compromised, and now I'm making him a ball python.
Pattern is by ChunChundra on Etsy. I just modified the colour scheme a bit to add a fourth shade. I'm using a 2.5 mm hook, and Rico Creative Cotton Aran yarn in Black, Saffron, Buttercream and Cinnamon.
The second one came to be after I learnt about temperature blankets. Basically, each row corresponds to a temperature of a given day of the year, be it the highest, the lowest, or average. But a blanket sounded boring, so I thought I'd make another snake! And to complicate things further for myself, I decided to go for both highest and lowest daily temperature for the back, and weather for the belly 🤣
And whaddya know, I already had a snake pattern with exactly 365 rounds! It's a corn snake pattern again by ChunChundra. I just modified the colour scheme quite heavily for my needs. For this one, I'm using a 2 mm hook, and Scheepjes Catona yarn in way too many colours - 12 so far, and there will be more!
I'm using a plastic armature for both of them, as I don't fully trust wires. It holds the pose perfectly, but working around it slows down the process significantly.
It occurred to me only after I started on these that 2025 is the year of the snake, I swear this wasn't planned 😂

Remember when binging a whole season of a TV show was just a fun thing you could choose to do on your own and now companies have this set up as the default expectation and if people DON'T binge all at once it's a "failure" now? Wow. Magical times. Wild. Imagine watching stuff in whatever time frame you feel like and companies don't judge success over how many millions of people watched it in two days.

"What the fuck?"
no, "Watch the Phacus".
Take a 30 second scrolling break to watch these little algae swim.
