All around us, the soaring numbers of deaths from Covid. Today, a friend who’s lost his father. The stories mount up. The mourning. So welcome, then, first snowdrops, harbingers of hope, light-bearers, first responders, there in the midst of winter’s wreckage.

Wabi-Sabi - “a way of life that appreciates and accepts complexity while at the same time values simplicity” (Richard Powell, Wabi Sabi Simple).
The aesthetic is one of “rustic simplicity” or “understated elegance” with the Zen understanding that everything, and every being, is impermanent, unfinished, in process, and that, in these qualities, we can find beauty and meaningfulness.
