Bioswap:

Basically a swap between Shadow the Hedgehog and the Biolizard, named Daybreak in this AU. Shadow is a monstrous creature aboard the ARK, being made with Black Arms DNA, while the Biolizard is a cybernetically augmented mobian made to not only be the ultimate lifeform, but to combat the Black Arms when they inevitably return. The AU is a pretty basic swap (although some things occur differently due to the inherent differences between Shadow and Daybreak) up until the events of Sonic x Shadow Gens, where Daybreak’s timeline collides with the main canon timeline and leaves him stranded in the main universe. From there it focuses on Daybreak’s relationship with canon Shadow- them both having experienced the tragedy of the ARK, with some added friction, because neither can look at each other without being reminded of the pitiable monster aboard the ark.

Egghogs AU:

Egghogs is an AU where Sonic, Shadow, and Silver were all raised by Eggman for his own nefarious purposes.

Daybreak:

“I tend to think of humanity first. I always make sure that the Doctor isn’t about to initiate one of his hostile takeovers, and that another threat isn’t approaching. If I come up empty, I think of what Maria would have wanted to do today. There were many things she wanted to do, I want to ensure that, in some way, it happens. Occasionally I ask one of my allies for assistance, as they have lived on Earth longer than I, they understand it and its many experiences more. I reach out to Sonic for sightseeing, and his little friend sometimes helps provide me with history and information on the location. Rouge is knowledgeable about many artifacts, and Amy knows her restaurants pretty well. Occasionally I request passage onto Angel Island from its guardian, Knuckles. He… has not said yes as of this moment. But if he ever allows me, I would be most grateful.

Ah, but I usually don’t get a chance. Those who wish to destroy what Maria- what everyone holds so dear do not rest. Be that Gerald’s grandson, or anyone else. And so it is that I do not rest, either. So long as this machine keeps my body going, I cannot allow harm to come to this planet. For the sake of everyone who lives here. And… that has grown to include me.

Speaking of my life support, there is of course, the eventuality that I must maintain it. Sonic’s friend, er- Tails, I mean. Tails has provided excellent help in identifying new issues and helping me repair it. I sometimes struggle to remember that even I have limits.

If time grants it, I visit the ARK once a month. Project Shadow still dwells aboard, he does not deserve to be forgotten, rampage as he might. I hope that one day he may calm. Maria would have wanted him to see the Earth, too.”

Summary + Author Commentary:

Daybreak prioritizes preventing evil from harming the planet and its people first. When he has free time, he tries to live life FOR Maria, and do things she might have wanted to do. This sets him aside from Shadow as he actively tries to make connections with his allies, though, similarly to Shadow, he struggles to call some of them ‘friends’. (He’s definitely friends with Team Dark (duh) and Tails, though!). He has to maintain his life support from time to time, and he goes to Tails for that. He also has monthly visits to the ARK (unless crisis prohibits it) mainly to look after Project Shadow, who is still alive in this AU after the events of SA2 because he didn’t fuse with the ARK- a mass of Artificial Chaos did.

CHARACTER INFORMATION

Daybreak the Biolizard: A salamander hybridized with several species of lizard. He is the ultimate lifeform, his life support perfected and with added anti-black arms combat protocols.

Project Shadow: Once thought to be the perfected version of the ultimate lifeform, Shadow the Hedgehog’s Black Arms DNA reacted violently and transformed him into a rampaging monster. The only thing able to quell his rage is his big sister Maria Robotnik’s presence.

Uhmmmmm more Bioswap posting hope yall dont mind…

During the events of SA2, Daybreak does not tell anyone his name till the very end- specifically he tells Sonic before his bossfight. At the beginning, he introduces himself simply as ‘The Biolizard’, and is referred to as such throughout the story. From Heroes on is when everyone refers to him by name, with a few exceptions (Abraham Tower, and it takes Eggman and his minions a while to properly pick up on his name.)

There is ONE notable exception to this, and that’s Starline. Starline NEVER refers to Daybreak as Daybreak, only as ‘The Biolizard’. So, since he does this, Surge and Kit don’t actually know his name till they actually *meet* the guy. They hear about a ‘Daybreak’ from others, but never actually realize that Daybreak is the Biolizard until they meet.

Bonus:

Daybreak and Abe actually did get along on the ARK, since Shadow really scared him and Daybreak was very much Not part alien. He did struggle to see Daybreak as a person, and was making progress on that when the ARK raid happened. He fully fell into his thinking that Daybreak was a weapon and that he killed Maria. In present day, they are on amicable, if not awkward, terms.
