Started by McCann Agency, Visibility 93 project aims to make public spaces more accessible to people with disabilities by updating visual language and design surrounding disability. Limited and surface-level symbolism results in a limited understanding of the types and forms of disabilities individuals can have, and their nature. I鈥檓 sure you鈥檒l recognise this symbol:
The problem is, everyone鈥檚 disibility isn鈥檛 visible - and this one symbol being used to represent disability implies it is limited to just that.
So Visibility93 has created a new list of symbols used to represent the following symbols to make public spaces more accessible to people woth invisible disabilites:
