I used to skate when I was little, but I stopped. Now I'm 14 and rediscovering my love for the ice, is it too late to get back into skating?
It's never too late to pursue something you love! Personally, I have had to take a break from it for the past two years due to injuries and school work, but I am planning to get back on the ice this coming spring! I just miss it so much! And by the time I will be able to get back to it, I will be 17. I may not reach as high of a level as other girls my age, but I will be doing something that I love, and that's all that matters.

I'm 15 and I just started figure skating again (I did it when I was like 8)! I can't really any spins or jumps, but I know the basics for going forwards and backwards. Im working on my Scorpion on ice and I skate with my leg parallel and almost vertical from the ice. How long will it be until I am able to learn jumps and spins!?
It varies for everyone. It depends on how much practice time you get, how dedicated you are, your coach's methods, etc, etc. Just work hard and you will get it eventually! Don't give up!

Hi! I am also a teen figure skater. :) I started my own brand of figure skating crash pads, called PeacePads™, when I had tried everything available, and nothing worked the way I wanted it to. I also had a hip injury when I was 11 from falling repetitively while learning new jumps, and this injury was preventable. I want to help other skaters, and have them understand the importance of safety. I am giving away a set of my pads now, and I'm trying to get the word out to skaters. Will you help?
Of course, love! If you are in need of new crash pads, check her out! ^^^

The closest arena is two and a half hours away, but isn't the best. The only other good arenas up here besides ours is a seven hour drive or a two hour plane ride ): if I want to skate ill have to leave home D: and it's a scary thought..
Aw I'm so sorry hun! I can't imagine how you must feel :(

Our arena just burned down, so there won't be skating here anymore .. What do we do now? There's nothing left..
I'm so sorry to hear this! :( I don't know what to tell you, but if you ever need my help in any way or just need someone to talk to, I'm Always here! Is there another rink that you would be able to practice at nearby? Or could you maybe work on off-ice and concentrate on that and working on your core and balance and flexibility until the rink gets rebuilt or repaired? :/

Hi! I'm 13 and have been skating for 2 1/2 years. I skate about 4 or 5 times a week and have landed my axle, double toe, double salchow, and double loop (although mostly none are consistent). I have only competed a couple times, plus ice shows at my rink, and I want to get more serious but I'm afraid I'm not good enough. I really like your blog, and I was just wondering, what level you are at right now/ how long it took you to get to more advanced things?
Okay, so first of all, you can compete at any level. I started competing when I was 5 years old even though at that time I was still in basic skills. It sounds like you are advancing at a really quick rate so I would definitely recommend competing if it's what you want to do and if it's what your coach is okay with letting you do. Honestly, my favorite part about skating is competing and doing shows. I just love performing! Right now I am only at the preliminary level and I am just starting to get back into skating after having to take about 8 months off due to a broken foot :( You are definitely good enough, in fact, the highest jump I've landed was only a double salchow and that was only once. Never doubt yourself because I am absolutely positive that you are a very talented skater! If you want to compete, I would say just tell your coach that and they will tell you their opinion. Good luck! I know that you'll do great!
