Let’s make several things clear:

Siruis Black was not an innocent man. Yes he was put in prison for the wrong crime but he did try to murder a child using his friend and expressed zero regret over it. Those are the actions of an unhinged sociopath and he should have been locked in for life

Severus Snape voluntarily joined a terrorist organization. Even if he didn’t actively kill anyone he was still complicit and absolutely deserved to spend decades in jail for it

Even if he exclude the shit Dumbledore did when he was young he still tried to use child soldiers and deliberately put children in harms way. He should have been in prison for a long time

Remus Lupin suffers from a very dangerous condition and due to his own negligence he nearly killed/infected three children. He should have absolutely been fired and never allowed to work as a teacher again and been put on probation

Harry Potter was a victim but he was also an absolutely reckless and stupid child who consisently puts himself and others in mortal danger even though he could have easily asked for help from adults and prevented not all but many dangerous situations. And don’t tell me there are no adults to ask. And don’t tell me that there were no adults he could have trusted. McGonagall  was there. Harry absolutely should have been kicked out of school
