Selles käsitsi tehtud filmis valib Stacey Steers varajase filmi allikatest pärinevaid järjestusi, paneb paika raamid ja aktiveerib uuesti kontekstualiseerimise, mis võimaldab ajutiselt kujundada sobivatest kujutistest kogutud lugu. Ta paigutab oma näitlejad uutesse kujutlusvõimelistesse kollaažikeskkondadesse, mis on ülesehitatud 19. sajandi gravüüride ja illustratsioonide fragmentidest. Alkeemia ääreala on kolmas film triloogias, kus uuritakse naiste sisemisi maailmu.Poola helilooja Lech Jankowski (Brothers Quay) muusika.

“Edge of Alchemy is the epitome of Stacey Steers' unique vision of collaged re- examination animations, an uncanny way to carry on in the great tradition of surrealist cinema. Max Ernst would refer to Lautréamont’s sewing machine and umbrella to define the structure of the surrealist painting as 'a linking of two realities that by all appearances have nothing to link them, in a setting that by all appearances does not fit them.' I would add, making it all feel so seamlessly inevitable and inexplicably right...the 'feeling of form', as Suzanne K. Langer might have put it...” (Phil Solomon)

Mary Pickford and Janet Gaynor, seamlessly appropriated from their early silent films, are cast into a surreal epic with an upending of the Frankenstein story and a contemporary undercurrent of hive collapse. In this handmade film, Stacey Steers selects sequences from early cinematic sources, prints the frames and re- contextualizes the action, allowing the ‘story’ assembled from appropriated images to evolve over time. She inserts her actors into newly imagined collage environments, built by hand from fragments of 19thcentury engravings and illustrations. Edge of Alchemy is the third film in a trilogy examining women’s inner worlds. Music by the Polish composer Lech Jankowski (Brothers Quay).

The comedy „Be My Guest” tells the story of two men and one woman in the rather sobering middle of life. When a sudden emotional outburst occurs, they realize that not even their life-long friendship can keep them afloat. After all, they have long since lost interest in anything but themselves.

Katkine simuleeritud lühifilm lahkusest, austusest ja kooseksisteerimisest. Inetu kass püüab eksisteerida killustatud ja purustatud maailmas, lõpuks leides hingekaaslase, müstilise juhi. Inspireeritud internetiloost "Ugly the Cat". Animatsioon on kombinatsioon nukkude liigutamisest ja dünaamilisest arvuti simulatsiooonist ning see varieerub füüsiliselt täpse ja katkise vahel. Nagu marionettide puhul, on kaudsed tegelased ühendatud dünaamiliste kehaosadega ja ühendatud simuleeritud vedrude abil animeeritud kontrolleritega. 

A broken simulated short film about kindness, respect and coexistence. An ugly cat struggles to coexist in a fragmented and broken world, eventually finding a soulmate in a mystical chief. Inspired by the internet story ‘Ugly the Cat’. Animation is a combination of puppeteering and dynamic computer simulation and varies between physically accurate and broken. Similar to marionettes, the Ugly characters are built from interconnected dynamic body parts and connected via simulated springs to animated controllers.

All of them have to ask themselves a question, do they have their addiction under control?

A dream turns into a dream turns into the unconscious sense where things that happen actually didn’t, an illusion of a reality that brings to life the most inner desires and fears. The music from Ornament & Verbrechen and Der Demokratische Konsum was essential to recreate that feeling.”

Marita Isobel Solberg is an international performance artist, musician, and visual artist from Tromsø and Manndalen, Norway. She is working in the borderline between art, life, and science, focusing mainly on sound, performance art, and installation. Experimenting with different media in her work and interweaving elements from the surroundings, Solberg’s work is often site-specific and relational, reinforced by a strong performative tension. The works explore a world of challenge, strangeness, melancholy, and desire sometimes with narrative passages or content, mixing with more symbolic and ritual elements.

Trond Ansten, b.1984, is a Norwegian artist based in Tromsø who primarily works with fine art, video, and brew. He received his education from the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe, Baden Württemberg, and previously studied biology and expedition guiding. In his practice, he is exploring the relationship between man and nature through various media. His works are shown internationally in galleries and film festivals such as Gallery Mustanapa, Rovaniemi, Anthology Film Archives, New York, CCA-gallery, Glasgow, I-Factory, Shenzhen, China, Alternative Film/Video Festival, Belgrade.

Hüljatud maja galerii on salajane asukoht kuskil Eestis. Isegi kunstnikud ei tea, kus nad esinevad või eksponeerivad - nad viiakse salajasse kohta kinnisilmi ja nutitelefonid konfiskeeritakse.
