i'm a cracker so take what i say salted; i think the bp thing should be more abt the three staying silent now and less abt them saying it then. the clips are from ten years ago, we can't know why they said it (if they thought it was ok or if they were told to) and today they have platformed black artists in ways other k-pop artists simply don't. if you didn't take issue with their sound or style before i don't think this should change that now or be evidence that they're still problematic. what should be questioned is why they haven't apologized or pointed out how their more recent actions suggest they would not repeat that behavior today. what that means for their characters is ultimately up for you to decide for yourself

i also see and empathize with how that is the most exhausting thing possible as a black individual. i don't know what to say other than i'm sorry and i hope you all are resting often and resting well

but to make it abt fic, i don't think fcs should be seen as an endorsement of real life people and i think they're taken a little too seriously on both creators and readers ends, understandably, bc tying your oc to one face is essentially as serious as casting someone to play them in a movie. but, issues should be on more of a case by case basis than raising red flags indiscriminately. i'd also like to see more people just get rid of them and use a broader range of resources bc i think fcs limit a lot of people's ability to make interesting, dynamic and more importantly original characters

with all due respect, people still care about faceclaims? i get where anon #75 comes from but isnt the whole point of faceclaims is just... to take their face? you're using a specific idol as your faceclaim because it suits the vision that you have in mind of your fictional idol/group, thats literally it, isnt it? sure i understand when the idol in question is a minor or a different ethnicity, but other than that? why do you care?
