PREMISE RELEASE

Fever Dream is an original supernatural roleplay set in the city of Argentum Valley, Nevada. Though this is not a city that can be found on any normal map. Theoretically it is located somewhere next to Death Valley National Park, around the very real town of Beatty.

At least, this is where the disappearances happen along the stretch of highway 95. Urban legends will speak of alien abductions, leylines or gateways to hell. In reality, it’s more akin to an anomaly in spacetime. A pocket dimension, if you will, that is assumed to have existed for a very long time. For many, Argentum Valley is a safe haven. Supernatural beings, old gods and deities have convened here to live freely and openly without fear of human persecution or hunting.

However, to assume the Valley is some sort of utopia — despite what the council might harp — would be naive. If you thought finding this place was up to chance alone, just you wait until you decide you’d rather leave. Roads that appear to lead to an escape route take you right back into the city.

You will wish this was all just a fever dream.

These canons are pillars in the community without being associated with any of the previous groups or factions. They are household names in most cases, and well known by the general public of Argentum Valley.

CANON PREVIEW (THE COUNCIL)

The Council consists of SEVEN (7) appointed representatives, primarily old-blood but there are a few newer ones who have wormed their way in via the pressure of the minorities of creatures. They are the sole governing body of Argentum Valley that oversees administration, enact policies and uphold law. They also respond to any possible threats, be they from within or outside the valley, and work in conjunction with the Public Safety Department to organize responses. Their positions are highly coveted and it is not unheard of for a council member to be assassinated or turn up missing to have their spot filled with someone else who might better represent the interests of certain parties.

CANON PREVIEW (NEW DAWN)

New Dawn is an eclectic "social club" based out of Chinatown in the lower Valley. Founded in the early 1870s by a group of Chinese laborers who lost their way in the desert, only to be engulfed by Argentum Valley. Along with a few outcast supes they met along the way, New Dawn was formed as a way for members to protect and support each other in a city that would rather forget they exist. Since then, the group has come into their own sort of power by running a blood bank, managing real estate and offering other services to help any lost souls that find themselves swallowed whole by the city. Often members can be found camped out in the Badlands, specifically the Drunken Burro Saloon, to intercept any wandering newcomers.

LOCATIONS PREVIEW

Argentum Valley city is divided into neighborhoods, but beyond the city center and its suburbs is a vast, brutal landscape that lives up to its moniker. Incidentally, it’s also where newcomers end up when they first cross into the valley.

THE BADLANDS

The outskirts and far reaches of Argentum Valley that have been left mostly untamed and untouched by civilization. There is, however, still farmland and a handful of businesses that could only be run by a certain personality, but It’s best not to get caught out here alone. If not the extreme temperature fluctuations, then the rough terrain often doom those who wander out unprepared.

POINT OF INTEREST: DEVIL’S BACKYARD

For such an edgy sounding name, this southeast section of the Badlands is actually the most populated and easy to travel. Here you’ll find the Sunset Motel, the Drunken Burro Saloon, and a few other random shops. Perhaps because when newcomers appear, it’s typically around this area they stumble through first.

CANON PREVIEW (REPO MEN)

It's almost not as bad as it sounds. Or maybe it's worse. These are those who go out into the regular mundane world to capture, kidnap and smuggle humans into Argentum Valley for... reasons. Each one has their own motive, and whoever lines their pockets the most usually gets their haul. While they began working for the Institute, there are many splinters in their brotherhood now -- each one abiding by their own set of morality. Yet, regardless, it remains illegal to willfully bring a human into the valley without the Council's consent. Want a Repo Man but not one of these? Go for it!

CANON PREVIEW (THE INSTITUTE)

The Institute is a fringe science and medical organization, the existence of which is denied by the Council, where humans are experimented upon. These experiments range from mere phycological tests, to more strenuous physical ones. There are also lower levels to the facility where humans have been transported to and never seen again. Rumor has it they are being harvested for various purposes. This of course, is all speculation and rumor. An urban legend, even, you might say... Want to work at the Institute but not as one of these? Go for it.
