He is the man behind “Change is Coming”. The Seventy-two-year-old President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, he is the first president from Mindanao, the first local chief executive to get elected straight to the Office of the President and the 16th President of the Philippines. A lawyer and politician. He became the mayor of Davao and served for seven terms.
It’s been a year since he was elected. He nicknamed “ The Punisher” by Time Magazine for his controversial strategy. In his first year, Secretary Martin Andanar of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), said he got an outstanding grade because of the success in war on drugs, bringing investments into our country and implementing the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.
But, then, it did not change the fact of extrajudicial killing. As of now, his trust rate drop. His iron-fisted-rule made him won is now the reason why some people are frighten.
Though, the Marawi City is now declared liberated from war. Still, the national security of the Philippines is at risk.
The Duterte Admistration War on Drugs, killed over thousands and still counting. The chaos is still there. The economic growth is falling, the peso-dollar exchange rate has now fully breached the P51/USD mark, the number of unemployed and underemployed are still high.

Earlier, we celebrated the 148th birth anniversary of our local hero, Dr. Pio Valenzuela. Being with the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela Singers (PLVS), local government officials, and other Valenzuelanos is a privilege. #DrPioValenzuela148

I visited her account
That night instead of going back to sleep I decided to do an assignment; to read someone’s post about the war in Marawi City.
As I reading and checking comments, I also started thingking. I was amazed by her braveness as she put her life at risk to do her job but still there are some opposed and these people not caused her to stop.
At first, I’ve been sad for those innocent people, grief to those who died, madness on killing and destroying; it was a mixed emotion. And there are times I paused and took deep breaths.
Thus, a three hour reading is worth it. I have been motivated by her dedication and learned a lot; an eye-opener. She made me realize journalist are heroes too.
