Man. Regis is such an interesting character. I'm so down for the Geralt x Regis ship. It's so fascinating. I think this is the softest Geralt has been with anyone not Ciri or Yen

The witcher: incredibly in depth world building, story wrapping around the themes of family. Great morally grey stories and politics that is on par with George RR Martin

So I've been unwell and so art is now my coping mechanism. Have some Private Eyes doing a Danse Macabre

So. I have studied zoology and too much time on my hands rn.

I wanna answer the essential question of "Why do Elves have pointy ears?"

So I have multiple hypotheses for this question.

Hunting hypothesis

1. Across nature we see a positive correlation between larger pointy ears and the ability to hear and accurately pin point prey. So the first hypothesis would be around the idea that elves are naturally more predatory than humans in a DND setting and once evolved their pointy ears to hunt

This would also suggest that maybe drow have larger ears in combination with their better dark vision for hunting in the under dark.

Potentially across the subraces of elf, we may see variation in elven ear size and length in correspondence to hunting with high elves having the least large ears due to their increased magical element replacing the need for ears to work for perception.

Social Hypothesis

2. A secondary use for elven ear size and pointyness is social communication. Elves, like humans, are an incredibly social species. So a secondary characteristic could be that larger elven ears can move and this is often used to indicate their mood within their social group. This could improve their social bonds and increase their likelihood to survive

Bigger ears = Sexier elf hypothesis

3. My final hypothesis is that elven ears did not evolve from natural selection however from Sexual selection instead.

Elves could have evolved large pointy ears the same way peacocks evolve their tails.

Bigger ears could be considered more attractive as the larger the ears. The greater the cost and therefore the fitter an individual is.

Or a combination of all three

Therefore I either propose: elves with bigger canine teeth, elves with moveable ears and/or hot elves having ridiculously big ears

Sooooo I finished the Witcher 3 and I'm about to be insufferable about it apologies to anyone who actually knows me

Geralt is my lil babygirl. A little girlie pop horse boi, Girl-Dad emotionally constipated man whore. Also his favourite thing to do is to take short cuts (big jumps) off of cliffs (roach hates him)

Ciri' is my beloved. No notes I've had you 50 hours and if anything happens to you I will kill everyone in this room then myself

Yen is a Girl Boss TM gate keep etc.

And Roach craves blood.

So. My favourite thing about Witcher 3 is apart, Yen and geralt kinda suck as people (affectionate). Yen is super manipulative. Geralt makes Bad Decisions TM.

(Lots of 'i don't get involved in human affairs' except when his blorbos are in danger)

Together, they are a toxic couple. Geralt is emotional constipated and Yen can't communicate to save her life without throwing Geralt out a tower window. (Also they both sleep around and hurt each other's feelings)

But when coparenting Ciri... They kinda put all that aside for her and really try.

Yen tries to care and talk to Ciri. And Geralt tries to be as emotionally open with his daughter as he can be.

I love it. It's kinda why I ship Yen and Geralt. They suck so badly but also.... Care a lot.

Also Geralt is such a Girl-Dad. All his braincells are going into 'My daughter Ciri is in danger. Much protect her'
