In the last hours of Wildstar, I spent so much time in voice. We laughed, yelled, and cried as we reminisced over old stories. Every funny moment, the times when we made one another emotional, dramatic reveals, and the great times we had in this game. The family we built will never die. We will move on to different games, but we still keep in touch… However, Wildstar will always live in our hearts as the game that brought us so many good memories. The game where we formed some of the strongest bonds. Our home…
Long live the Direbog!
See you on the Other Side…

I’m going to miss you, Wildstar...
How do you express all the emotions and love that you experienced in a game to show the impact it had in your life? How do you describe all the good and bad that ebbed and flowed through such a small time window. It was four years, plus one for Alpha and Beta testing if you were there. A span smaller than the often asked question of, “Where do you see yourself in [usually five] years?” How do you tell people about all the stories you’ve told and the people you’ve met? How do you keep the passion for Sci-fi and RP alive? How do you say goodbye?

The Direbog Primal Fire Festival
~~ Primal fire is an angry infusion of ruin and unpredictability. The force inherent to primal fire is the most destructve of the primal elements, revealing itself in wildfires, volcanic eruptions, and supernovas. ~~
The fires are lit and the drums are sounding in the distance. The beginning of the summer season has always been greeted with blazing fanfare. Here on Nexus it is no different for the boisterous swampies! Roars and laughter can be heard throughout Cursewood as they celebrate yet another turn in the yearly wheel.
Who: All exiles are welcome to come and party!
What: The Primal Fire Festival to celebrate the summer solstice
When: Tonight (6/20) @8pm CST
Where: Toadie Direbog’s plot
There are three bonfires set out to represent the three trials the Direbog must survive to earn their place in the tribe. Wisdom, wit, and strength are all represented tonight. Bring an offering to each to bless your summer with good tidings and fortune!
RP starters! (Ways to get your character here!)
“I heard the drums all the way from Sylvan Glade! What on Nexus is happening?!”
“I heard there was a party going on! I brought the beer!”
“Did you see all that smoke? It’s in Cursewood. Let’s go see... It might be danger!”

The Direbog Present: Drum Circle
Deep within Cursewood of Celestion the Direbog begin the drums to honor another month’s passing. Shouts, roars, boisterous laughter, and a cacophony of other sounds rise up as the party begins in full at the setting of the suns. Bon fires are put up and smoke rises thick with the sweet smell of herbs and potpourris to mask the cooking of meats and other smells. Also a display of power, their enemies will know that the Direbog thrive and openly claim the land as their own. Welcome to the swamps.
We come out here to meditate and regain our strengths. The power that rests under our feet is not infinite and must be replenished. To do this, we host a Drum Circle, a grand party to celebrate the passing of another month. Feasting, dancing, music, and of course drumming help to bring out the positive energy that we redirect back into this magical place. Come visit us tonight and help us continue the flow of positive energy within Cursewood. Help us restore balance and keep the power flowing.
When: 5/10 @8pm CST (That’s tonight!)
Where: Toadie Direbog’s plot
Who: Exile friendly, Dominion hostile
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Need a reason?
The drums are loud! Anyone wandering close by would hear the drums and roars for miles.
The smoke is thick. Rising from the canopy would be clouds of smoke, and until you get close enough there is no telling if it’s from a fire.
You heard about the party! The Direbog are not shy about inviting people to their parties. The more the better!
The Direbog welcome new members into the fold as they are presented to the ancestors and welcomed into the village. Those who call themselves allies and friends to the Direbog witnessed the ceremony to induct the new blood into the family. The Temple was made ready and the three who would call themselves Direbog walked the long pathway to the First Matria. Once seen by her and the ancestors, they return as full members of the tribe.
BEHOLD! THE DIREBOG!
“Count us down!”
After an extensive scouting mission to find the origin of the strange Eldan machines that has been attacking the Direbog, a portal was found. Calling for the more technologically advanced members of the tribe and their friends, the Direbog figured out a way into the main facility. Hidden beneath the exo-site was a much older forgotten inner sanctum that housed the main computer.
Two teams were formed to handle the job. The tech team consisting of Rhilyn Sunspark [ @rhilyn ], Emmaline Swiftstorm [ @alanari ], Autumnfell Soothwind [ @autumnfellsoothwind ], Raiev Darkfyre had a chip that was meant to reprogram the system. The second team with Evalynn Willowstorm [ @evalynnwillowstorm ], Evellia Greenhuggins [ @evelliagreenhuggins ], N Harmonia [ @nisfornexus ], Prana Skysoul [ @kiraohara-wildstar ], Revee Willowisp [ @booderdoodles ] were sent in as protection. Entering the portal they were lead to a strange datascape where they were immediately confronted with a hardlight projection of a pumera!
Unfortunately, as Toadie Direbog was flagging everyone to leap through as the portal was opened saw as the system flickered and shut down. Leaving both Mahva Cereus [ @yiskabiscuit ] and Jinx Tanglefoot [ @hkluterman ] unable to join with the away team in the datascape. Confronted with a dilemma, they soon realized that the system was defending itself as another hardlight projection began to attack the portal ring. Having to respond with force, the three left back at the exo-site had to break the projection and bring the away team safely home.
Within the datascape, the group struggled to distract the pumera long enough for the tech team to plug the reprogramming chip into the service port. Once complete, the pumera vanished and the datascape was left in an eerie quiet and calm. Back at the exo-site, Jinx and Mahva managed to wreck the hardlight projection’s face and allow the portal to come back online. Unfortunately, Mahva received heavy wounds, and Toadie was critically hit before the away team had returned.
Successful, though beaten and wounded, the Direbog returned home bringing safety and peace to the swamps for a little while longer...
The Story of the Bee-Turtle
[[This is a story told to me by the spirit of Falar Beastweave. May he smile and laugh from the Weave as I tell it]]
Back when the Weave was still but a few threads, the animals of the world were still finding their place. One was a creature we called ‘turtle’. Turtle was a creature much like a shellark that also could walk on land, only not as predatory and much much slower. Turtle had been happy as a turtle, revered as a symbol of patience and loved by all. And he was happy! Until he learned about who we would call “Bee”.
Bee was a creature much like a buzzbing, only about the size of an aurin’s thumb, and with a needle that would kill her once she used it. People caught Bee on a string and showed off how they were careful enough both not to get hurt and not to have Bee sacrifice her sting. Bee was a symbol of skill, and her visage was painted on the hands of artisans and carpenters, and decorated the instruments of musicians and the throats of singers. Bee was everywhere…
… and it made Turtle upset. No one tried to capture Turtle and show off their skill when he was led about on a string. No one painted Turtle on their hands or throats. Whenever Turtle was talked about, it was an indicator, a tiny warning that someone would need patience ahead. Turtle tended to turn people away, and now that Bee was in the picture, he was feeling very unappreciated… and he wanted to change that.
“Patience is just as important as skill,” he huffed. “Patience is what grows skill to begin with! I will become a bee, and remind them how they go that skill in the first place; no matter how long it takes!” The other animals laughed at Turtle. “You cannot become a bee!” they jeered. “You are a turtle!” With a snort, he consulted the Wise One, and She whispered to him as his feet touched Her roots. “Turtle, even if you could, it would take you ages. Most would give up long before they see results. Are you sure you want to do this?”
But she and all the village knew that Turtle was patient! He took his plan in stride, persevering in every Magik ritual and Weave trick he could find and muster. Days of trying turned to weeks, weeks to moons, moons to years, and years to generations. And then one day, when the fifth matria in the line had since taken the crown, Turtle returned to the Wise One. He had grown an extra set of arms, and he had grown Bee’s gossamer wings… but yet, he was not a bee! His body remained round like a stone, and his wings were tucked away under his hard shell.
“I tried,” he whispered to Her, “but in the end, I am not a bee. I am no longer even a turtle.”
“Ah,” She whispered back, “but your perseverance has paid off. You may bit have succeeded in your original goal, but instead, you have become something completely new! This is not a failure, and I think you can serve as an example to the creators of the world. Now go into the village and show the people what you have become!.”
And thus, he became the world’s first Bee-Turtle, a popular symbol among the greatest minds to walk the Desodar. Bee-Turtle still serves as such a symbol to those that remain, though we know him now by a slightly different name…we call him Beetle.”
The First Trial
Evalynn moves through the swamps with a determined smile plastered across her face. She went climbing up one of the many trees near the body of water that held the orange stone she needed to get her hands on. Peering down into the dark waters with her tail curling around the branch she was crouching on she gave a soft excited squeal. This was going to be fun, she smiled to herself, she always enjoyed searching for things and her home showed it with the many trinkets, statues, shiny rocks and coins among other treasures that littered the surrounding area. But the treasure wasn’t the fun part, although she enjoyed seeing the pretty colours all mixed together the real fun part was obtaining them. So many things in so many places, it was always an adventure to get a new item and she always got one more story to go along with how she obtained whatever the item was.
She shifts her weight on the branch; it was reaching out over the water, a perfect spot really. Narrowing her eyes to scan the water’s surface her lips tugged into a wider smile, no time like the present. Her tail loosened its grip on the branch and swung out behind her as she moved to get ready. She had made sure the branch was strong enough to keep her weight beforehand, no use trying to make a cool dive and instead floundering into the water when your diving board snapped under you. Rolling her shoulders before spreading her arms out she pushed off the branch and was soon falling through the air in what she would consider a -perfect- swan dive, and really, who was there to argue with her? Her body straightened as she fell, finger tips leading her body downward as she pushed forth her will, energy swirling around her. Normally she used this trick for a pair of golden dove wings, it certainly helped slow falling, but she didn’t want to slow fall right now, if anything she wanted to go faster. The energy started to form along her bottom half and as her finger tips broke the surface of the water a long stormy blue finned tail, much like a mercreature formed in completion, it looked pretty cool in her personal opinion, what’s the use of having powers if you don’t make them cool looking?
And just like that she was in the water. She had streamlined her body so there, sadly for anyone that may have been watching, wasn’t a very big splash. She doesn’t slow her decent in the least, her makeshift construct tail pushing her through the water quickly, helped along by the gravity of her dive. Her eyes open once in the water, third eyelid keeping the murky water from stinging as she dove deeper. Once she hit the waterbed she peered around for that special stone, making sure not to kick up the dirt and sand on the bottom as she searched.
And… there!
Her hand darted out to grasp the orange stone, clenching it tightly in her fingers as she shifted her body upwards and kicked off to return to the surface the powerful constructed tail making short work of the ascent back up and soon her head broke the surface and she gasped in a breath before laughing to herself, giving a cheerful yip as she admired the stone in her possession before moving to the bank and pushing herself up, the mertail melting away as soon as she was out of the water. Moving to stand she tucked the stone away safely in one of her many secure pockets and bounded off through the swamp to show Ryska.
I GOT YOU GUYS SOME BETTER PICTURES OF THE FINAL PROJECT!
So, I remembered to snag more of an all around view of the plot. We have both water shots and the gardens themselves!
Screaming into the abyss
I was not prepared for maintenance and failed to get the proper kinds of screenshots! Despite all that, I’m posting this up to get the word out that we finished Lahk Strutstep’s plot! Remember that post about floating garden plots? I made one!
Some very important points to note:
No, the water effect is not glass
Yes, the water is in fact glowing
The pictures progress through conception and development
I am so excited for this new plot, and welcome all those looking to RP with the swampies to swing by sometime! The plot is public, but won’t be up on any public forum sites to visit considering it’s purpose as the Direbog gardens.
Thanks for taking a look!
Okhea looked around at those gathered with a growl, “Again?! I’m tired of these bots coming looking for a fight... This time, I’m bringing my shoe.”
There was another call to arms as the village was warned of an attack that was happening further out towards the edges of the swamps. The best were dispatched to the hunting grounds, and it wasn’t long till they found what they were looking for...
The bots were ready this time and as the combatants surrounded the eldan machines, holograms were released. This time, however, they bared a very familiar face. As they faced off against a single hardlight aurin, they were standing face to face with the Matria’s consort Prana (@kiraohara-wildstar). There was tension as folks were not sure if the projection would harm their friend, or if this hardlight possessed even a fraction of the power Prana commanded.
With the first attack, the Hardlight Prana impostor entangled the fighters within roots. Caught and unable to gain an upper hand, the group were struggling to keep together. The eldan construct along for the ride had another little surprise as a laser beam raced along the ground towards various trapped members. Death and destruction was forcing the group to keep up as they struggled to survive.
In desperation, Evellia (@evelliagreenhuggins) consumed the primal life surrounding the area to hamper the deadly attacks of the impostor Prana, while the matria’s consort took care of her doppleganger. Mahva (@yiskabiscuit) managed to finally get the attention of the monstrous construct that went for the Voidwalker. As he went for the finishing blow, Mahva leaped and tore through wires and coolant hoses before Evalynn (@evalynnwillowstorm) called for his retreat. Evalynn and Okhea double teamed with two massive esper projections of their own to consume what was left of the bot.
"When you force without understanding, you will always die by that which you seek to control."
There was disturbances. The swamps were silent as the robots returned. This time they came with a present…
Hearing the call, the Direbog immediately launched into action. The problem was that they were confronted with a very new type of weapon. What was it? The time to figure it out would have to wait as the fires set from the initial crash were threatening the very temple itself.
Consorts giving orders like generals, the village worked to put out the fires until the sound of a screeching voice made them all turn. To their horror, the kit named Tenuka cam from the trees intent on attacking the device. What happened next was beyond anyone’s ability to stop as Tenuka’s are was deleted from existence. Before their very eyes, they witnessed exactly what the bomb was brought here to do.
Turning attention on the bots, the village worked to both put out fires and destroy the eldan creations coming for their sacred places. Tenuka was removed to safety by her surrogate father figure, Linden (@keytar-hero) . The rest of the village dutifully attacked the trespassers as a canister of deadly gas was released within the vicinity of the bomb. They were running out of time.
In an act of desperation and pure sacrifice, Evellia (@evelliagreenhuggins) took the gas canister with her into the Void while Mahva (@yiskabiscuit) took the bomb for a walk in the Void rendering it inert. Both showing their dedication to the village, but both disappearing from the village’s sight…
Casting a spell
The ground trembled as the winds rushed through the canopy. A crackle of tempo that sizzled in the break of the moving water brought the magic to the surface. Life and Logic working in tandem both to give breath and order to what the Direbog created. The magic that flowed through the rock, the water, and into the very ground of the swamps within Cursewood pulsed as the eclipse darkened the skies.
Finally, the moon was gone, but in its absence came a warm green glow as runes flitted around the dancers. Sound seemed muffled and everything drifted like a dream. Time stood still in this strange place where the weave and the waking world collided. The Direbog continued their beats, the drumming reaching its peak even as the muffled blanket passed through the gathering. Dancers focused on their movements, and drummers trying desperately to push back the darkness.
Then suddenly there was howling, roaring, screeching coming from each of the Direbog. They encouraged their guests and beat the drums louder still. Horns were blown from the edges of the gathering as more and more voices howled to the darkness. More and more joined until... Like a bursting bubble the sound returned. Light flooded the circle and the moon was brought back to the sky. Cheers and roars could be heard with clarity as the Direbog’s spell had been cast.
Tonight was amazing as we had each primal represented at the circle tonight. I hope everyone had fun as we danced and drummed our hearts out. To those who enjoyed the little theatrics, we thank you for watching! Hope to see more folks coming around the swamps!
