the sheer weight of my want rent me in two. i am in tatters, skin shred to ribbons, pieces of who i once was lay strewn about. yet, my flaxen eyes still open wide, peering from the hollows of my skull. desperate to see what lay beyond my early grave, to catch a glimpse of what i covet most.

i am sustained not by blood or by breath, but by this godless desire. it seeps from me in rivulets, running down my body, poisoning the earth. befouling everything i touch with its rot.

simply, i am wanton. and the object of my affection, the thing i crave most, this venomous longing, it is sure to be my demise. but, i truly cannot help myself. this hunger, this thirst, this need, it is engraved upon my bones.

i was taught to love that which hurts me. to kiss the blade as it enters me, and plead for its return when it leaves me. my beloved gives joy and pain, in equal measure. and every time i meet her, i wish again for the sweet kiss of my maker, that never comes.

instead i lay beneath god’s tapestry of stars, and ask myself how he created such perfection. and wonder, how the beauty of this world could beget such atrocities, as me.

it is a pathetic thing, to kiss the hand that beats you. to yearn for that which put me in this coffin. but, i do. because the most alive i have ever felt, was the moment that you cut me down.
