i still think hunter's palisman in the epilogue should have been a wolf rather than a bluejay

like, the only interpretations i can find/think of that make flapjack's death seem thematically coherent (rather than just the writers adding gratuitous angst to their favourite little meow meow for no real thematic reason) were interpreting it as like, a new start for hunter, or symbolic of growing out of something, or symbolic of a final separation between hunter and caleb

and replacing flapjack with a very similar bird just... feels like it undercuts all of those potential meanings
