thinking about how the first person i ever had a romantic relationship with would often make comments about why would anyone want to be a man and how much cooler it was being ~sapphics~ and other such sentiments

then much later after we'd split but i was still trying to get along with them, when i eventually did figure out my gender stuff, would only ever refer to me as 'they' and my then-online-nickname as opposed to my actual name (when they'd never had a problem using my irl name before)

i guess. the way i imagine it is; ameny was always a sickly child, and going through puberty mostly meant growing into a laundry list of chronic conditions (endometriosis, pots, generally a piss-poor immune system, just a hot mess)

but because destiny had woven itself so and they had stumbled into the role of God's Specialest Little Guy (tm) before they were old enough to understand what that even meant, hydaelyn's protection kind of shielded them somewhat from the brunt of the effects, in a way (except endo. not even god is stronger than endo.) and generally kept them Alive And Kicking

(part practicality, since a warrior of light is no use lying in a hospital bed, and partly out of genuine love. hydaelyn woman that you are)

but like. hydaelyn's gone now. capital D dead. the narrative is over. everyone's free. what now.

oops turns out the latent chronic conditions combined with several years worth of injury, magical abuse, overclocking yourself, almost turning into a statue and literally dying a few times over have all come together to kick one A. Sawyer's ass.

this was a long ramble but i guess to sum it up; the arc i'm imagining for ameny in dawntrail is 'former saviour of the world and invicible hero (tm) forcibly confronted with their own mortality and the realities of a rapidly failing body' so, pour one out for them
