In Philippine mythology, Haliya the masked goddess, Mayari the one-eyed Goddess of beauty and war, and Bulan the lover of the death god Sidapa were the three surviving moons,The rest were devoured by Bakunawa the sea serpent, who was once a beautiful but vain sea goddess who loved them. Haliya and Bakunawa would fight during eclipses, and during these times, it is said that the people would cry, as it was Bakunawa eating the moons that was causing the eclipse. It was the cries of these people that Haliya would use as her weapons and armor during her battle with Bakunawa.

women in mythology → Artemis (Αρτεμις) Goddess of hunting, wild animals, and wilderness. Her mother Leto was hounded throughout her pregnancy by the jealous Hera, but eventually found refuge on the island of Delos. There she gave birth to Artemis, who assisted Leto as midwife with the birth of her younger twin-brother Apollon. When Apollo was regarded as identical with the sun or Helios, nothing was more natural than that his sister should be regarded as Selene or the moon: accordingly the Greek Artemis is, at least in later times, the goddess of the moon. KAIN BAIRNS
In Scottish folklore, kain (or cain) bairns were infants who were seized by warlocks and witches, and paid as a tax or tithe to the Devil. Càin is a Gaelic word for a tribute, tax or tithe, and is the origin of the Lowland Scots term, while “bairn” means a child. The word was in use along the Scottish Borders, according to Walter Scott’s Minstrelsy of the Scottish Border, and is unconnected with Cain in the Bible.

@thewinedarksea Mythology Meme ↳ 5d. Primordial Deities | Mingarope
Mingarope is an obscure goddess featured in Australian aboriginal creation myths. She appears with Bunjil a creator deity, cultural hero and ancestral being, often depicted as a wedge-tailed eagle (or eaglehawk) who filled the ocean with his urine. An 1879 work records that “Mingarope having retired upon a natural occasion was highly pleased with the red color of her excrement, which she began to mould into the form of a man, and tickling it, it showed signs of life and began to laugh”.

the angels
Adam (The First Man), Eve (The First Woman), Gadreel (Angel of War), Sophia (Angel of Wisdom), Cassiel (Angel of Solitude), Metatron (Angel of Life)
Angels are powerful celestial beings of light created by God as his children. They are responsible for maintaining Heaven and guard the souls of righteous humans. They power Heaven and are imbued with considerable power.
In Christian tradition, angels are divine creatures created for a single purpose – to love and serve God. Biblical angels are fearsome beings, divided into nine heavenly choirs; from highest to lowest, the order reads as follows: seraphim, cherubim, thrones, dominions, virtues, powers, principalities, archangels, and angels. However many of the choirs lost rank and power after the abandonment of God.

darwin may have been quite correct in his theory that man descended from the apes of the forest, but surely woman rose from the frothy sea, as resplendent as aphrodite on her scalloped chariot. margot datz.
