Is it normal that I feel repulsed watching people eat fatty food? My mum and her boyfriend are both very very overweight and they're currently eating 2 chicken butter kievs each, 22g fat in each, and Caesar sauce and oily fried processed potato croquettes. And they mock me and call me obsessed with being healthy!
they are clearly obsessed with death. but if you go at it from “repulsion” you will never make change because you are judging just as they are to you. Instead of being repulsed be concerned, as you would if they were taking part in any self destructive behavior (smoking, chewing on lead paint, binge drinking, etc) Also, there is a question of degree & background. we can’t talk about health for overnourished ill w/o paying regard to undernourished or people with ED backgrounds. Pick your words wisely with them, talk from your heart and use your head to help them plan for more nutritious meals they will still enjoy. Show them the nutrient tracker and let them choose from alternatives and additions that will help them meet their needs. Helping vs repulsing. own the difference.

I was at the gym the other day repping a "plant strong" shirt when someone asked me if I was vegan. I said yes, and they said they were actually vegan for four years but then went back to animal products bc they needed more protein. I never know what to say in these situations bc I dont want to be that annoying vegan, but do i just whip out the "well, you actually dont need as much protein as you think you do. "I usually dont say anything at all for the fear of coming off stand offish.
its important to just say, “I’d be happy to send you some info on that if you’d be interested in reading it” or if that is too forward i would say “why don’t you google our protein requirements and let me know what you find next time I see you?”
What really happened to them is that their vegan diet was not as calorie dense as the diet they were used to eating and they lost weight and freaked out.  Going from a 5 to 6 calories per gram fast food diet to a very low plant based diet means you have to eat a lot more volume to keep above your TDEE to make muscle gains.  There is adequate protein in nearly every conceivable diet as long as you are hitting caloric sufficiency.
Try some truth bombs like;
#1. did you know breast milk is only 6% protein & that is when we grow the most in our lives?
#2. did you know if you don’t eat enough carbs our bodies turn protein into sugar? 
#3. what happens to all that excess protein?
My goal is to kick the feet out from under the chair of BS they are standing on and give them the ideas to find the info on their own to rebuild their information foundation.
