How To Season a Cast Iron Skillet

 In recent years, I fell crazy with my cast iron pan. It’s one among my most used kitchen tools. It’s the right vessel to cook up an excellent pork chop, crisp up some chicken thighs or maybe bake an excellent batch of brownies. i really like having the ability to transfer things from the stovetop to the oven with ease. Oh, and they’re super simple to clean!

You can use a cast iron pan for many something as long as you are taking the time to keep up it and keep it in condition. I’m about to show you ways to simply season your cast iron pan and keep it in nice operating order! I know i discussed I’ve only in “recent years” come back to like cast iron, however there’s nothing new concerning this material. I’m positive most of you've got memories of your grandparents or maybe great-grandparents lugging out their heavy-bottomed skillets and cooking up dinner.

There’s a reason these pans get passed down from grandparent to grandchild. there's science behind the seasoning method and also the skillet’s durability! find out how to take care of your pan, and it'll last you a lifetime period.

 Let’s get to seasoning!

1. Time to season our cast iron skillet!  Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.

2. Wash the skillet with warm soapy water and a sponge or a stiff brush. Cast iron typically shouldn't be washed with soap, but it is fine in this case as the pan is about to be seasoned.

3. Rinse out and thoroughly dry your skillet.

4. Add a bit of oil to your skillet, just enough to create a thin coating once it is rubbed in. The most commonly recommended oils for seasoning cast iron are vegetable oil or shortening. According to Lodge, you can use the oil of your choice.

5. Rub the oil into your cast iron using a cloth or a paper towel.

6. Flip over your skillet and properly oil the outside as well.

7. Place your oiled skillet upside down on the upper rack of your oven. Place a foil lined baking sheet below in order to catch any drippings. Allow your pan to bake for an hour.

8. Once your pan has fully cooled in the oven, it is ready to be used. You've successfully seasoned your cast iron skillet!

 How To Season A Cast Iron Skillet

What You Need

·         Cast iron skillet

·         Dish soap

·         Sponge or stiff brush

·         Clean, dry cloth or paper towels

·         Vegetable oil or shortening (or other oil of your choice)

·         Oven

 Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 325°F.

 2. Wash the skillet with warm, soapy water and a sponge or stiff brush. Cast iron should not normally be washed with soap, but it's fine here since the pan is about to be seasoned.

 3. Rinse and thoroughly dry the skillet.

 4. Using a cloth or paper towel, apply a thin coat of vegetable oil or melted shortening to the inside and outside of the skillet. Vegetable oil and shortening are the most commonly recommended oils used for seasoning, but according to Lodge, you can use any oil of your choice.

 5. Place the skillet upside down on the oven's center rack.

 6. Place a sheet of aluminum foil below the rack to catch any drips.

 7. Bake for an hour.

 8. Turn off heat and allow to the skillet to cool completely before removing from oven.

The Different Types of Weight Benches 

Weight benches are an absolute necessity for home gyms and any fitness gym, commercial, non-profit, or private gym studios.  Without weight benches, you’re limiting the number of weight lifting exercises that can be done.

   Anyone looking to build muscle and get stronger will need a bench to perform the basic fundamental compound exercises.  There’s no other way around this.  A cheap alternative would be to just use the floor but that limits the range of motion for bench presses.  Not something you want to do if the goal is long term maximum muscle gain and continuous strength gains.  A strong and sturdy bench is also much safer than using the floor at times.

Strength Training Bench

Regardless, use best workout bench for strength training and bodybuilding.  You can’t go wrong with that.  Now there are several main types of weight benches.  There are those that come with a full home gym fitness center and additional attachments for lateral raises, cables, lateral pulldowns, squat or power cage, and adjustable racks.  These all-around home gyms are expensive and cost around $1000 to upwards of $5000.  Only buy them if you’ve tested the center.  Check out some popular models online and look at all the features first, then head to the local dealer that offers these fitness centers with weight benches and try them out.  Do a brief 5 minute workout to get a feel for them.

Regular Bench

The other cheaper alternative is to just go with a regular bench with adjustable racks.  A good brand is Body Solid and Weider equipment.  They may or may not come with adjustable racks, which depends on your choice. I suggest you pick one with adjustable racks for bench presses so you don’t need to buy a power cage, or a separate power rack for squats.  They even come in folding and non-folding versions.  If you’re low on space at home, consider a folding weight bench. After a workout, just fold it up and slide it in the corner or underneath the bed, if you have a large queen sized bed that happen to be high.   Folding weight benches may also break easily so check the warranty and sturdiness of the equipment before buying.

 Additional exercise equipment you can buy includes chinup/pullup/dip station (which can also be purchased separately), standing calf raise machines,  cable machines, and accessories like resistance bands, additional weight plates and barbell sets, and various grip machines (pinch grip, captains of crush grippers, finger dumbbells).

How to dry a clay sculpture step by step

Clay modeling is an excellent practice for children and adults. We are all capable of modeling, however we do not always proceed in the best way and sometimes the sculpture is broken for reasons we do not know. One of them is the bad drying of the piece, which in many cases is the cause of it explodes in the oven. It is essential that you know how to dry a clay sculpture in a homogeneous way to ensure the stability of your works

1. Keep the tender mud while you work the piece. Do not allow it to harden or wet it heavily, as the clay will lose consistency.

2. Do not get your hands dirty. Spray the piece before work if you see that it is a bit hard, but wait until it absorbs the water before handling it. The mud should not be doughy and slippery.

3. Whenever you tap it, spray it with water in a uniform way and cover it with a plastic closely attached to the sculpture to prevent air from entering and drying out. Close the plastic with tweezers or a rubber to prevent air from entering underneath.

4. Beware of damp cloths. Most people cover the sculptures with a rag moistened with water and a plastic bag. This system works if you work almost daily and the cloth does not dry out. If it is going to be a long time, it is preferable that you do not put the rag, since once dry it will continue absorbing the water of your sculpture, drying it ahead of time.

5. Once the sculpture is finished, do not be in a hurry and let it dry progressively. Do not unclip it and place it near a heat source (the sun or a radiator), since the change in temperature and humidity will be too abrupt. Leave it "badly covered" during the first few days, putting the plastic over but not closing it well. This will gradually dry out.

6. After one or two weeks, remove the plastic and leave the sculpture in the air for two more weeks. He thinks that even though it looks dry on the outside, it still contains moisture inside.

7. This done, your piece is already ready to be introduced in the oven. I hope you have a good cooking!
