Even though I can do it with enough effort, I think it's okay that I'm not the kind of reader who typically finishes a 300+ page book in a week or less. I think it's okay that at a comfortable pace it takes me 2 weeks or more to finish an average length novel (and that's without life getting in the way). It's okay if I want to spend more time with a book so I can savor it, instead of rushing through it so I can feel like I'm a real bookworm.
#one of my ancient greek lecturers at university#once told me that you've only read a book when you've not only physically read it#but you've also had a discussion with others about it afterwards#because reading is not just about words on a page#it's about perceptions and digesting ideas and ways of thinking and interpreting
