At His Feet

At His feet, I surrendered my pride, Naked of clothes, and naked of ego. I placed my lips where my dreams were born, Where my past has led, Where time ceased, and reason quieted.

At His feet, I forgot my day, I forgot my pain, I forgot my name. And there was only one voice, Only one skin, And whether by night or by day, there was only one face.

I kissed the soles of the One I worshipped, The One superior and precious, The One who shook me with a word, who soothed me with a touch; His skin so soft, His demands so firm, His eyes that set fire to any heart He saw.

I kissed Him, And there was nothing left within my soul but Him, There was no other purpose but His smile, No other name but His name.

And when I was done, I lay on the floor, Below it if I could, And let Him, no, begged Him to, rest His greatness on my head. With hope and gratitude, I silently implored Him to allow me to touch them again, To kiss them again, To thank Him.
