Deir Yassin Massacre - April 9, 1948
Or, the other shoe that fell; a symbol of the Palestinian Nakba, which sparked 750,000 Palestinians to flee their homes crying “Deir Yassin!”
This anniversary does not only mark the gruesome massacre carried out by three terrorist gangs against unarmed Palestinian civilians (which the April 13, 1948 New York Times coverage reported Zionist forces went “house-to-house” killing 254 Palestinians, including 25 pregnant women who were bayoneted and 52 children who were maimed in front of their mothers before being beheaded and the mothers slain) but it also marks the beginning of the policy of cleansing Palestine’s villages so as to demolish what was once known as Palestine through depopulation.
Let’s not forget, however, that Dier Yassin not only had a “good reputation” but it also stood neutral during the 1947-1948 Civil War between Arabs and Jews, and that Dier Yassin had prevented Palestinian fighters from using its land to fight the Zionist terrorists, in addition to the fact that it had signed a non-aggression treaty with the Zionists. Therefore, I believe the moral lesson out of this is that:
“Deir Yasin must always remain a warning and a reminder to every Palestinian, to every Arab as the village that signed a “peace agreement” with the Zionists and ended up being ethnically cleansed, wiped off the map and its residents either savagely massacred or made refugees.”
Lastly, I believe it is only ironic that Dier Yassin, where all of this insanity began, is now the site of Kfaur Shaul Mental Health Centre; an Israeli public psychiatric hospital.

Israeli Settlers Torch Mosque Near Bethlehem Israeli settlers on Wednesday dawn have torched the mosque of the Jaba’a, the village West Bethlehem. The villagers said that they were in the mosque about to pray the Fajir (dawn) prayers, when suddenly the mosque was set on fire. By the time they put out the fire, they found racist slogans sprayed on its walls. The slogans say “Death to Arabs” and Palestinians, and threatens the villagers. This is not the first time that holy sites are set on fire in occupied Palestine. In April vandals left anti-Muslim graffiti on a mosque in the occupied north, drew a Star of David and wrote ‘close the mosques and open yeshivas’ [Jewish seminaries] on the outer wall “of the mosque in Fureidis, police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld Told AFP. Later that month, assailants nearby city of Umm al-Faham left graffiti on a mosque and damaged its door. In May unknown vandals scrawled nationalist graffiti on a Muslim cemetery near Nesher in northern Israel, a day after a woman said she was assaulted with pepper spray in a suspected racial attack.

Deah Shaddy Barakat. Yusor Abu-Salha. Razan Abu-Salha.
Barakat was a dental student at the University of North Carolina, and he started a campaign last year to send dental supplies to victims of the Syrian civil war. The YouCaring effort has raised more than $70,000 to date.
Yusor had planned to begin her dental studies at UNC-Chapel Hill this coming fall. The outlet also cited UNC officials as saying that she and Barakat were married in December — less than two months ago.
Razan was a student at North Carolina State University, where she studied architecture and environmental design. The New York Times notes that many have praised her artistic abilities; she won an award from her school “for capturing 3-D abstract model making with time-lapse video.”
These are the 3 victims of the Chapel Hill shooting — and we must remember them.
