Had fun at AEESP last week! Met some of my SDSU friends and got to network. Been in 🇹🇹 for almost 5 months now 😲! I've missed the 🇺🇸. Thanks to AEESP travel grant for partially funding this trip! I can’t believe that I’ve been here in Trinidad and Tobago for over 2 months now. Time really does seem to fly when you're having fun! Although it’s a bit late, I want to dedicate this post to celebrate “#earthday2022”. In my application to @the_fulbright_program I talked about my interest in sustainable treatment processes, wanting to be an advocate for the environment, and had to justify why I wanted to come here in T&T. I wrote that application over 1.5 years ago and have forgotten all about it till I started writing my blog! I am still learning and constantly taking notes but I wanted to share some of the highlights of my Fulbright experience (so far!). 1. Site visit in Tobago to study phytoremediation potential of red mangroves in wastewater. 2. Participated in an earth day event and travelled an hour to meet my original study subject: Vetiver grass. 3. Met this cool community and learned how to make essential oils using vetiver grass. It smells amazing! 4. Learned how the biggest quarry in Trinidad mitigates their production by utilizing vetiver system and treating their wastewater. 5.
