i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate's computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.

so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching "advanced system settings", go to performance settings, and uncheck "show shadows under windows" and anything else you don't want. hope that helps someone else.

Fiction Podcast Love & Support

Hi friends,

I’m not great at asking for help, but here it is— one last honest, hopeful plea into the Tumblr ether.

As I begin my third year of fiction podcasting, I'm taking on a new challenge:

Building FIVE FICTION PODCASTS from the ground up.

Some of them you might know already— like Moonburn, our messy, heartfelt queer coming-of-age story. Or (Un)Likeminded, our Black Mirror–esque sci-fi short story anthology.

Some of them are brand new— like Haunted: The Van Buren Manor, The 50th First Date, and our Unt. Monsters Short Story Collection.

But what they all have in common is: they aren’t just projects. They’re the stories I’ve always wanted to tell. They’re community-built. They’re deeply personal. They're queer. They're character driven. And they’re made with so much love and care.

The thing is, I need a little help bringing them to life.

I know everyone has already said or thought about this topic but I'm still baffled how much worse the internet has became since the rise of genAI. I deadass can't think of any aspect of it that wasn't somewhat ruined by it, let alone improved as The Big Rich intended. You want to find a reliable source to use in your research? Good luck finding one among all slop articles we have on the main page! You want to run your text through a spellcheck to make sure it's all correct and has no misspells? Jokes on you, it's all has AI that is trained to repeat the same mistakes as millions of people who don't know how to talk!

You want to talk to a tech support to fix your very specific problem? Why don't you first waste your time talking to a machine that doesn't understand shit about what you're talking about! I can go on forever like this. The internet may not be dead yet but we will get here eventually if the situation doesn't improve
