Yet more evidence of the sexism that pervades Hollywood.
youtube
Here is more proof that Hollywood is in major need of a gender-fairness overhaul.
With the recent revelation that 37-year-old actress Maggie Gyllenhaal was deemed too old to play a yet-unnamed 55-year-old actor’s love interest in a movie and news that Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin were paid the same as their male co-stars even though Fonda and Tomlin are the main characters whose names are the title of the show, it has come to a fever pitch of unfairness.

What does being fearless mean to you?
We want to celebrate fearlessness in all of its forms. Maybe you asked a question in class today. Maybe you finally asked your boss for that promotion. Whatever it is, we want to know what how you’re being fearless.

Brilliant feminist store is only charging women 76% of the retail price
Elana Schlenker, a 31-year-old graphic designer, opened 76<100 as a pop-up shop in Pittsburgh with the simple premise that female shoppers would only have to pay 76% of the retail price of items, an allusion to the fact that women in Pennsylvania are paid 76 cents on the dollars of what men earn. The store fittingly had its grand opening on April 14, aka Equal Pay Day. But wait, the store’s feminist actions get even better.

Many firms in emerging markets do a better job of promoting women than their Western rivals, some surveys suggest. In China, 32% of senior managers are female, compared with 23% in America and 19% in Britain. In India, 11% of chief executives of large companies are female, compared with 3% of Fortune 500 bosses in America and 3% of FTSE 100 bosses in Britain. Turkey and Brazil come third and joint fourth (behind Finland and Norway) in the World Economic Forum’s ranking of countries by the proportion of CEOs who are women. In Brazil, 11% of chief executives and 30% of senior executives are women.

It doesn’t get more impressive than Elizabeth Holmes. At 31, she’s been named to Forbes 2015 Female Billionaire List for developing a quicker, more convenient and less expensive way to test blood. But how she did it is what really sets her apart.

50 years ago JFK crated the United States Agency for International Development. Today, USAID is celebrating their 50th anniversary. With the mission of improving the lives of those struggling abroad, recovering from a disaster, or striving to live in a more democratic county, its mission still resonates just as strong today as it did 50 years ago. To further its goal, USAID has developed an Entrepreneurs Project, empowering entrepreneurs globally, with a particular focus on female entrepreneurs.

‪#‎Jesuismargot‬ is the hashtag we should all be using in solidarity with a foreign minister who has courageously acted in pursuit of justice for women and girls, and in so doing, of peace over war. She currently faces the assault of the military-industrial complex and all its might, who wish to deliver a 'compromise' due to the financial cost of not selling weapons to Saudi Arabia. We must stand in solidarity with her act of awesome courage to shape the world for the better.
