So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.
Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?

So, there's apparently research coming out now about microplastics being found in people's bloodstreams and the possible negative effects of that and I feel the need to get out ahead of the wave of corporate sponsored "be sure to recycle your bottles!" or "ban glitter!" campaigns and remind everyone: It's fishing nets. It's fishing nets. It is overwhelming fishing nets It always has been fishing nets. Unless regulations are changed, it will continue to be fishing nets. The plastic in the ocean in largely discarded nets from industrial fishing. The microplastics are the result of these nets breaking down. The "trash islands" are also, you guessed it. Mostly fishing nets and other discarded fishing industry equipment. Do not allow them to continue to twist the story. Do not come after disabled people who require single use plastics. Do not come after people using glitter in art projects and makeup. These things make up a negligible amount of the issue compared to corporate waste, specifically in the fishing industry. Do not let them shift the blame to the individual so they can continue to destroy the planet and our bodies without regulation.

1950s Househusband Part 5
————————————————————
(Name; Angelo)
(Thirty Fifth Official Post)
(It’s short, but I hope you enjoy.)
———————————————————— You were perplexed, just a moment ago you were having a somewhat normal conversation with Angelo. Now, the conversation is over, and he’s rambling about being a good husband, and resisting temptation. Which, baffled you even more as you didn’t know what this temptation was, or who it was for that matter. But, you had a feeling that asking him might not be a good idea. Instead, you cleared your throat, tapped his shoulder, and inquired about his behavior. “Are you alright, Angelo? You look a bit disturbed, is something wrong?” This did not get you a response, no, but it did cause Angelo to quit rambling. However, now he’s staring at with wide eyes, he looks almost appalled, and you don’t know how to react to that. You simply try to create some more distance between the two of you. Actually, you were contemplating how rude it would be to just sit somewhere else entirely, somewhere far away from him. You reason that Angelo probably needs space and that you were simply trying to be respectful. So, you slowly get off the couch, sadly, your escape is prevented when the floorboards protest your weight with a loud creak. Fortunately, this snaps Angelo out of his stupor and encourages him to jump off the couch, and rush to the door. “I-I really have to go, I apologize for bothering you so late, and, uhm, I’ll talk to you later.” (Actually, he’s going to try and avoid you for a long time.) “Oh, well, please let me walk you home. It’s much too late to be out by yourself.” You hesitantly offer to walk him home, and he seems to contemplate the idea for a moment, then he quickly shakes his head. You’re relieved when he rejects your offer. “No, no, that’s quite alright. I will be just fine, but thank you, nonetheless.” Angelo frantically tosses his coat on, then yanks your front door open, dashes outside, and slams it shut behind him. He slams the door closed with such force that your locks jangle and a vase begins dances precariously on the edge of your table. Luckily, you’re quick enough to catch it as it falls, sadly you aren’t quick enough to catch the priceless, porcelain cat that was close to the car. You’re absolutely mortified when you hear the cat shatter, you just know your grandmother is going to kill you for that. An exhalation escapes your lips, and you return the vase to its original spot, albeit a tad further from the edge. You stand up, lock your door, and lean against for a moment as you process that situation. Angelo has come by late at night, exhibited very strange behavior, then you had a dull conversation with him. This was followed by an encroachment of your personal space and the violent death of your grandmother’s favorite porcelain cat. None of that makes sense, but one thing is for sure, that entire interaction was unusual, and extremely memorable. You’ll be thinking about that for days to come, hopefully the next time you run into him, your confusion will be cleared up.———————————————————-
(Okay, so this was a short chapter and definitely does not make up for my absence, or the lack of posts I’ve made. Nor does it make up for all the Reblogs I’ve been indulging in, but I’m going to try and write more often than I am now. I don’t know how well that’ll work, hopefully I’ll get out of this strange writing stupor I’m in and will be back to posting regularly!)

Some small details for a character learning sword fighting for the first time:
- sore wrists
- blisters on hands
- every movement opens you up to be hit
- they will hit the tops of their arm and own sides with the sword while learning
- there is a primal sixth sense when you know you’re being toyed with
And, for your typically nonviolent characters.
You don’t aim for the swords. You aim for the person holding the sword.
It sounds so obvious but needs to be accepted. Actively. When holding a sword you have to understand you’re attacking another person. Even to block you have to aim your blocks at the other person or they won’t be strong enough to actually protect yourself.

As a rule of thumb, don't reblog donation posts or people asking for donations unless they've been vetted and reblogged by Palestinian bloggers. We usually go to lengths to verify this shit because we know scammers have been faking to get people to send them money, using the urgency of our genocide as bait.
It's disgusting this is what we're dealing with, but people are losing money because of some truly evil people out there.
Accounts don't just randomly spring up on tumblr without gofundmes while asking for someone to help them create a campaign. Fuck out of here with that shit.

im noticing that for a lot of americans “free palestine” has been an ideological motto and symbol rather than them actually believing in their heart that freedom is attainable and necessary

About the AO3 "No Guest Comments for a while" warning
If you're not following any of AO3's social media accounts you might be in the dark as to what kind of "spam comments" have engendered this banner at the top of the site:
Tumblr media
These spam comments have been posted about a great deal on the AO3 subreddit for the past couple of days. Initially they comprised a bunch of guest (logged out users) bot comments that insulted authors by suggesting they were using AI and not writing their own fics. Some examples, from the subreddit:
Tumblr media
But it then escalated to outright graphic porn images and gifs being posted in comments, again by logged out 'Guest' accounts. Obviously, I'm not going to give examples of those, but between these two bot infestations, AO3 has clearly decided to act and has temporarily closed the ability to post comments for users who are not logged in with an AO3 account.
Unfortunately, this means that genuine readers who don't have an AO3 account won't be able to leave comments on fics that they enjoy.
If you are a genuine reader who doesn't yet have an AO3 account, I strongly suggest getting yourself on the waiting list for one. More and more AO3 authors are now locking their fics down to registered users only - either due to these bot comments or concerns about AI scraping their work - which means you're probably missing out on a lot of great stuff.
Hopefully guest commenting will be enabled again at some point soon, but I suggest not waiting until then. Get yourself on that list.
Wait times are going to be longer than usual at the moment, due to the current Wattpad purge [info on Fanlore | Wattpad subreddit thread], but if you're in line, then your invite will come through eventually.
Update: There's now a Megathread about this on the AO3 subreddit.

Love how tumblr has its own folk stories. Yeah the God of Arepo we’ve all heard the story and we all still cry about it. Yeah that one about the woman locked up for centuries finally getting free. That one about the witch who would marry anyone who could get her house key from her cat and it’s revealed she IS the cat after the narrator befriends the cat.
