“And tell me why are we spying on Inuka?” Rhett grumbled, voice barely above a whisper as he followed Suzuki. Swiper trailed behind them, a nonchalant look on his face.

“Remember when Inuka disappeared that one time?” Suzuki began, ears alert. He was being very stealthy, disappearing one step and then next reappearing behind a tree. Rhett was finding it just a bit hard to keep up.

“Yes and if I do recall, he was at the library. Because Swiper conveniently forgot to tell us.” Rhett glared pointedly at Swiper and all the red-head did was give him a smug grin.

“Well, we don’t want that to happen again! Besides, haven’t you noticed he’s been acting weird lately?”

“You mean ‘I’m going to be sad over this romance novel for weeks’ Inuka weird?” Swiper asked as the three of them ducked behind a large pillar. A few feet in front of them stood Inuka, unaware of the situation. 

“Nope! He was happy the whole week! His tail kept wagging, even in his sleep!” 

Rhett let out a small gasp. “Do you watch us while we sleep Suzuki?!”

i do adore (pt 1)

Some students find the library boring - it’s too quiet and there are way too many books and the librarian that works there keeps giving every student that walks in a glare. 

Inuka finds the library to be a safe haven.

He’s been going there a lot often now. And it’s not that Inuka can’t stand being with his team - his friends - far from it actually. He loves his friends, would die for them even. But sometimes the noises get a bit overwhelming. Inuka chalks it up to his loneliness, having been raised in an empty home that would only get lively whenever his adoptive parents decided to throw a party.

So he would retreat into Beacon’s library, where it was quiet and relaxing and the only noise would come from worn old pages. 

Inuka sat on a chair, a little aways from the center of the room. He was engrossed in a novel - a romance story for the ages. The princess was in a predicament: should she go ahead and marry the prince from far away to please her parents? Or should she run away and elope with the poor baker, who loved her unconditionally? 

Choose the baker!

Inuka sighed inwardly and turned the page when someone sat across from him, several books spilling out from his bag.

The faunus looked up, as did the rest of the students that were currently studying. 

The person in question gave them all a huffy glare and plopped himself down as the students quickly returned back to their books. The guy looked rowdy - with bright purple hair and the collar of his uniform lose. But what was most noticeable to Inuka was the black eyepatch on his right eye. He could see what was the beginnings of a scar peeking out from the patch and when the guy saw him staring, he gave Inuka a grin, revealing a set of sharp teeth.

Inuka quickly glanced back at his book.

From then on, Inuka would run into him at the library and at the same exact spot.

It’s a little annoying. He gest here way before him and there were plenty of empty seats far away from him and yet, the guy always sits down across from him. It was the same today too. However, he didn’t even glance at Inuka this time nor did he give him a glare or a smirk, too focused on the copious amount of paperwork in front of him. He was writing fast and was biting his lip, eyes narrowed in concentration. Now that Inuka thought about it, even with his rowdy look, the guy was always studying.

Inuka couldn’t help but stare.

“What?”

Startled, Inuka jumped slightly as the guy glared at him with a scowl on his face. For a second, the faunus thought he’d try and fight him.

“Sorry.” Inuka apologized, gathering his things in case he decided to pick a fight with him. He nearly grabbed his romance novel when the purple-haired student snatched it from his hands.

“This one’s different from the book you read last time. Beauty and the Faunus huh? How is it?”

What?

Inuka blinked for a few seconds, brain trying to process what the guy had just said.  He was sure he’d get made fun of - bullied even. He certainly didn’t expect this human to ask him a question regarding a romance novel, of all things.

“Uh, you okay?”

Inuka snapped out of his reverie. No - this person had other intentions, that definitely had to be it. Maybe he wanted to make conversation, only to reveal to the whole school that Inuka was a sucker for romantic stories and then everyone would bully him and it would get to the point that Inuka would have to run away and leave a note to his team - 

With a glare, Inuka yanked the book back from his hands. “I’m fine.”

Now it was his turn to look startled. Inuka saw a flash of annoyance and then...pity? Sympathy? Inuka wasn’t sure but he wasn’t buying it. With a small huff, Inuka left the library.

He doesn’t stop by the library a few days after that.

Inuka preoccupied himself by hanging out with his friends, even more so than usual. He followed after Suzuki like a puppy, insisted on trying all sorts of teas with Rhett (even though some were bitter and terrible), and trained with Swiper.  

It was all fine and fun until he decided to study outside, underneath a shady tree.

Despite the sun’s bright rays, it was nice outside. It wasn’t as quiet as the library but it was still relaxing.  The breeze was a welcome change too.

Well, it was a welcome change until the breeze picked up a little too strongly and one of Inuka’s papers went flying across the patio. With a groan, Inuka began to get up when the paper was handed to him.

With a blink, Inuka glanced up to thank the person when his eyes widened in surprise. 

The purple-haired human with the black eyepatch grinned at him, showing his sharp teeth yet again. “Here you go.”

This time, Inuka felt his something in his chest flutter.

“Thank you.” Inuka said because what else was there to say? He took the paper from his hands, hands clinging to it as if it would decide to fly off again. What was he doing here? It had to be a coincidence right? There was no way the guy would know he was here. 

Then the human asked, “Haven’t seen you at the library lately,” at the same time Inuka blurted out, “What are you doing here?!”

There’s a beat, a pause, and for some reason Inuka wanted to sink into the earth. 

And then the guy laughed, all hearty and without a single ounce of malice. “I go here? Actually I was makin’ my way back to the dorms. Until I saw your paper fly off. What a coincidence eh?”

Inuka gripped the paper tighter. 

So he wasn’t on a hunt, tracking him down for blowing him off at the library a few days ago. He could’ve crumpled up Inuka’s paper, could have ripped it to shreds if he wanted to. But no, he had decided to give him back his paper.

Inuka felt a swell of shame.

“I’m sorry.” The apology spilled from his mouth and he could feel his eyes burn, no doubt it was tears that were forming. Inuka did not want to cry, not in front of this stranger. He desperately wished Suzuki or Rhett or Swiper were here so he could hide behind them.

“Wha? What’re you apologizing for?”

“Because....because I thought you’d be uh, mean? Like a bully...like Cardin? I’m sorry - “

“Hey, hey, I’m the one that took your book right from ya.” He held his hands up, gesturing to Inuka. “It’s not your fault. People get scared of me and my looks. I can’t blame them for it - these nice pearly whites tend to scare em off, haha!”

There was something about him that made Inuka relax then - maybe it was the way he talked or his smile - but Inuka found himself laughing then.

“You sure it’s not your eye patch that’s scaring them off?”

The purple-haired raised his brows, a wide grin on his face. “Wouldn’t put it past them!”

Somewhere in the distance, the bell rang.

Inuka absently watched the students scatter, running off to their classes. Disappointment settled in - he hadn’t finished his homework and he was going to be late. But most of all -

“Ah geez I’m gonna be late. I’m never late!”

The guy looked ready to bolt but he didn’t. Instead, he scratched the back of his head and asked, “Hey what’s your name?”

Just run Inuka. You’re going to be late. 

“It’s Inuka.” He replied, ignoring the nagging thoughts in his head. 

“Nice. My name’s Fern. It was nice running into ya Inuka.” Fern began to dart off the opposite direction but not before giving Inuka another grin. He yelled over his shoulder. “Let’s meet up again sometime! Preferably the library! See ya!” And with that, Fern ran off.

The bell rang again, a final warning, but all Inuka could hear were the words Fern had told him. Meet up at the library.

Inuka wasn’t sure why but the feeling of having a new friend, a human friend, made his heart swell.

Maybe this new semester wouldn’t be so bad.

writing a fic and realizing that you made your character have sensory overload

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT EACH OF YOUR CHARACTERS

What would completely break your character? if his newfound family disappeared. They could all die, they abandon him or betrayal, that would devastate Inuka. Family and friends is a very important aspect in Inuka’s life and having been raised in a manipulative home, the thought of losing his friends is something he doesn’t want to think. After his friends, going back to his old home wouldn’t break but it certainly wouldn’t be kind to him either.

What was the best thing in your character’s life? Meeting his new team and eventually forming a friendship with them! Falling in love with Fern! Also unlocking his semblance when he was about 10 or 11.

What was the worst thing in your character’s life? Finding out that his adoptive family was just using him to make themselves look good in front of other wealthy people.

What seemingly insignificant memories stuck with your character? Probably any time his friends do something stupid. If it earns him a laugh, no matter how small, then that’ll probably stick around with him for some time.

Does your character work so that they can support their hobbies or use their hobbies as a way of filling up the time they aren’t working? Does schoolwork count.

What is your character reluctant to tell people? That he’s actually a runaway from a wealthy home. He won’t deny that the Shiroma household is actually terrible and manipulative but he’d rather not say anything about his situation unless prompted to. 

How does your character feel about sex? He doesn’t care if others have sex but on a personal level, the thought kind of freaks him out. 

How many friends does your character have? Four if you count team sirs and Fern. Six because I’d like to think he’d get along with Ren and Blake. AND WEISS.

How many friends does your character want? He’d rather have a small circle of friends. So he’s okay with his current friend group.

What would your character make a scene in public about? FAUNUS RIGHTS. Rebelling against his wealthy family!

What would your character give their life for? His friends absolutely. 

What are your character’s major flaws? Being distrustful of humans. When he first met Fern, he was very wary of his intentions (and who could blame him, Fern looks mean asdjkl) but eventually, he began to warm up to him. He’s also sensitive so he tends to cry easily.

What does your character pretend or try to care about? I think he’d try to care about everything his friends like despite it confusing him. 

How does the image your character tries to project differ from the image they actually project? Inuka tries not to show that he was raised in a wealthy home so he tries to act like he doesn’t have any ‘class’ lol but it tends to backfire on him sometimes.

What is your character afraid of? Being abandoned by those he cares about or losing his freedom.

What is something most people in your setting do that your character thinks is dumb? I haven’t seen rwby in years so I’m gonna go off on a limb and say anyone kissing up to the rich?

Where would your character fall on a politeness/rudeness scale? On a scale of 1 through 10 with one being hella rude and ten being the definition of a saint, Inuka would fall on a 7. He’s polite until you hit a nerve.

All These Things That I’ve Done by The Killers

“I got soul, but I’m not a soldier”

☾ On Family - Mitsue

Playful, bubbly, charismatic. He comes off as this to people meeting him for the first time. But underneath that cheerful exterior is an entirely different person.

Cunning, dark, proud, selfish. Born as the only child of the wealthy Shiroma family, Mitsue was raised with lavish clothes and even more expensive goods. He is to be the next heir of the Shiroma business and his parents have paid a good amount of money to have the best teachers for him.

At the age of six, Mitsue gained a new family member in the form of Inuka. Having been told the faunus was adopted, Mitsue made sure to tell Inuka the status he was in and what being a faunus meant to his family. “You are a beneath me.”

Their father decided to have them both be trained in order to send them off to Atlas academy, where they could later hone their hunter skills. Mr. Shiroma hired a teacher to aid Mitsue and Inuka in discovering their semblance and occasionally pitted the two against each other for sparring matches.

Mitsue always came out victorious. 

Once the Shiroma’s noticed Mitsue’s incredible growth, they had decided to send him off to Atlas academy. Inuka was deemed weak so he still had some ways to go. However, their teacher noted that Inuka’s unfound semblance had the potential to be powerful and so Mitsue became jealous.

Before Mitsue left for the academy, he revealed to Inuka what their parent’s true intention was when they adopted him. This devastated Inuka and he decided to run away.

A year later, Mitsue learned of Inuka’s whereabouts: residing in Vale and attending Beacon academy. He intends on “surprising” his dear brother though his true intentions are unknown. 

Based on Amaterasu, the sun goddess.

Likes to dress feminine but still uses he/him pronouns.

Is the same age as Inuka.

5′7″ inches. An inch shorter than Inuka haha.

☾ On Friends - Team SIRS

Suzuki

Probably the one he gets along with the most in his team. It’s kind of strange, considering Suzuki is the most hyperactive of the team while Inuka prefers the quiet. But I think the reason why Inuka likes to be around Suzuki is because he’s the opposite of him. His leader reminds Inuka of the kind of friends he would have liked to have when he was younger: someone that’s very cheerful and optimistic. That’s why Inuka goes mostly with the stuff Suzuki wants to do. That and he doesn’t want to disappoint his newly found friend (but I think that’s mostly an internal thing he needs to work on asfdjkl)

Though there are times when Inuka would retreat after a long day and I think Suzuki would understand that he’s had enough for now.

Rhett

When Inuka found out that Rhett was from a rich family, he felt pretty relieved! It meant that he and Rhett had something in common despite the (different?) circumstances. Though upon their first meeting, he really thought Rhett was really stuck up and snobby and preferred to avoid him. But Inuka learned very quickly that Rhett wasn’t actually bad- he was the complete opposite of his adoptive family- and he warmed up pretty quickly after that.

Also Inuka likes to tease Rhett the most out of his team. Though it’s a more subtle teasing- like the incident where Rhett tried to teach them to use utensils. And okay maybe draw on his face. But he draws hearts and flowers, that’s it!

Swiper

Since learning that Swiper is a country bumpkin, he’s been very curious about how different it is there as opposed to the rich city he was raised in. I like to think that Inuka sometimes asks a lot of questions regarding Swiper’s life (though he doesn’t mean it in a nosy way). The fact that he (or anyone in sirs) can’t read Swiper’s poker face unsettles him but again, he gets used to it. 

Inuka tries to steer clear of Swiper’s pranks but sometimes it doesn’t work out....and it’s thanks to him and Suzuki that he ends up doing really dumb stuff. 

Inuka loves his new team and thinks they are 10x better than his adoptive family.
