"Fishing with John" Honza Zamojski “What’s most crucial is not too look a fish in the eyes because they’re all too human, with a clear, black spot at the centre and a yellow passe-partout.” I cannot really explain why am I fascinated by this book but I am, fascinated. "How to thrive in the next economy : Designing tomorrow’s world today" John Thackara Thames & Hudson
Yesterday John Thackara was in CIID (Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design), so was I ! Awsome feeling to meet the man who inspired me 4 years ago to become service designer. I am really excited to read his new book full of true inspiring stories of people who make this world better. I recommend anyone who is craving for a more meaningful and better society to take the time to read John Thackara’s book(s). He will give you this clear vision of the things we can do, why we should do it and how we can make it reality.

Second time I read this book was 1 year ago, a copy in English borrowed from the library of Design School in Copenhagen (KADK). Now I have my own copy ! So who knows how many times I’m gonna read it again...

“Rampa” catalog “Rampa” is a great art gallery located in Istanbul. I had the chance to see the work of the Turkish artist Canan in her exhibition called “The Shining Darkness”. I found very powerful the way she used fabric, thread and paillette on tulle to talk about terror. Beautiful work with the lightning as well which was sublimating her art-pieces.

“Design, when everybody designs : an introduction to design for social innovation” Ezio Manzini The MIT Press Ezio Manizini has been one of my main references when studying service design and still is. He is a world’s leading thinker in design and social innovation and contributes to the production of a new design culture. Bellow, few of the themes he focuses on :
Innovation, towards a new civilization
Design in a connected world
Design for social innovation
Collaborative organizations
Making things visible and tangible
I had the chance to meet him two times.
At the DDC (Danish Design Center) for a Design Session on September the 17th, about the role of design in a state of crisis.
During a 2 days seminar at AAU Copenhagen I participated in. It was about “People on the move. Migration, social innovation and design.” I gained a great understanding of the challenges regarding migration and what service design can do to tackle them. http://ddc.dk/en/2015/09/design-is-needed-in-a-state-of-crisis-2/
