College Monsters - Part 3
Chapter 3:
After Sam’s breakdown, Sam agrees that he has to go to the college. On the way there he didn’t say anything, instead turns Dean’s music up almost blowing out the speakers to avoid talking about it. Anytime Sam gets like this, Dean knows not to push any deeper or argue with him. They finally arrive at the college and park in the car park where the incident with Lily occurred. Dean turns the music down and asks Sam if he’s okay to go into the block to interview people. Sam begins unbuckling his seatbelt, looking around paranoid as if he’s trying to find someone. ‘I’ll uh, head to the hospital to check on Lily and ask her some questions about what happened. I’ll message you when I’m done.’ Dean knows he’s not ready to go into the school, so he agrees. ‘Alright, I’ll go talk to the professor and the moron that recorded it.’ They switch seats and Sam speeds out of the carpark like a maniac. ‘Jeez.’, Dean shakes his head and heads towards the two buildings in front of him, one being an administration block, the other, dormitories. Dean first enters the administration building, pretending to be a reporter ‘Hi, my name is Ronnie Platt and I’m with a new newspaper around here and I’d like to ask a few questions about the incident that occurred last night at around 1am?’ The woman at the desk in front of him stares at him then points to a door ‘Talk to him.’
The door reads chancellor. ‘Ok, thank you’ he smiles and walks towards the door, knocks. Muffled from the other side, ‘Come in.’, Dean opens the door ‘Hi, Mr.?’ ‘Mr. Dempsey.’ Dean nods, feeling the part of a true journalist. ‘Mr. Dempsey, can I ask you a few questions about the other night and what happened with Lily Franchi?’ He stands with a notepad in hand. ‘Sure, sit down.’ Dean spends around half an hour talking to the man and writing down points, also asking the obvious weird questions. He finishes the interview and calls Sam.
‘Sam, I met with the professor in the video. Mr. Dempsey, he said he thought he heard a faint voice call out to it, that’s why it turned back left, what did you find out?’ Sam speaks, sounding calm now. ‘I spoke to Lily, but she didn’t hear anything, I guess you wouldn’t be able to over the sound of your own scream and bones crunching. Turns out her entire arm was broken along with some ribs and her leg, the doctors said the bone-break pattern looked like she jumped from a building. She also had a giant hole punctured through the arm it was twisting, probably from the teeth of the thing.’ ‘Ouch.’ ‘Yeah, she’s not in good shape. I’m coming back to the college-‘ Dean cuts him off ‘We still have to interview students; you ok with that?’ there’s a long pause. ‘Yeah, I should be good.’ Back at the college, Sam and Dean interview students who saw it go down along with the kid that recorded it. This takes hours.
Luis and the others are at the library. He checks the time, its almost 12. Shit. ‘Hey guys, I think we should get back to our dorms. Look at the time.’ Sarah and Gabe agree, Joel sticks out. ‘I’m going to stay back a little while longer, I’ll join you guys later.’ The others pack their things and say bye to Joel. As they leave the library, they hear a scream from the other side of the building.
Sam and Dean are heading back to their motel, they both hear a faded scream. Dean asks, ‘You heard that too, right?’ Sam nods. Dean then whispers, ‘What do we do, we don’t even know what kills the thing yet! Let alone what it even is.’ Sam replies, trying not to draw the monster closer to them ‘Just grab anything you think’ll do any kind of harm and go. We can’t let another person get hurt.’
The group freezes, Gabe snaps them out of it ‘We have to go!’ and pulls them both by the hand ‘Where do we go?!’, without even thinking of Joel, they sprint from the library to their dorms, intertwining between people who are also scattering like cockroaches everywhere. They reach the dorm and have to wait for the pile of people in the doorway before actually being inside the building. They get inside and sprint to Luis’ and Joel’s dorm. They slam the door shut and let out a sigh of relief. Sarah who was last into the room and now sitting against the door sits up, alerted. ‘Joel! He’s still at the library!’, immediately after this, a bash at the door sounds throughout the room, now silent. She slowly stands and opens the door, checking who it is. ‘Its me, let me in!’, Joel bursts into the room.

College Monsters - Part 2
Chapter 2:
The group leaves the library, curious and in suspense of what information they’re going to find on their old friend.
Back in Luis and Joel’s dorm, all huddled around Luis and his laptop. They go through every single result pertaining to Sam and Dean, including news articles from different states about the brothers being wanted for everything under the sun including credit card fraud, breaking, and entering, grave desecration and murder. Surprised by what they’re reading, Gabe accidentally blurts ‘What great lives they’ve led’. They exit that page and click on the next one, which shows a video of a man in a weird pig mask, talking to a camera in front of another man, laying and strapped down to a metal table. The man in the mask explains that he’s got something special, a new item. ‘Introducing, Mr. Sam Winchester!’. They’re dumbfounded. They’re left speechless in regard to what they’re watching.
‘That’s Sam? He looks so much different from the last time we saw him.’ Sarah accounts. ‘What is this, some kind of stupid sketch?’ Joel asks, but no one answers. ‘He looks scared, this doesn’t feel right.’ Luis remarks as the masked man starts listing off numbers and exclaims ‘SOLD! And now, ladies and gentlemen. Let’s begin the auction for Sam Winchesters heart!’, he points to Sam strapped down and struggling on the table ‘Can we stop this?’ Sarah asks as the man points a gun to Sam’s head and as soon as the bullet fires, they all look away. Scared to look back at the screen, they hear ‘show’s over’ from a man they don’t recognize. Joel slowly turns back, expecting to see his old friend dead. ‘Guys he’s okay.’ The other three, terrified of what they might see on the screen, peer suspensefully at the screen but to their surprise, they see Sam, still alive on the table, breathing heavily and a man in a long black coat, untying the brown leather straps that held his brother down.
The group, all except for Luis, move back from the screen. Luis keeps his hunched position in front of the screen, he doesn’t move. ‘What is wrong with those guys’ Gabe asks, with no answer from the others. Sarah hesitates, ‘Do you think… they’re still alive?’, Luis’ hand shakes in fear as he exits that tab and clicks another link, this time finding a forum called “The Lose-chesters”… ‘That’s a… that’s a great name’, Sarah remarks, clearly laughing at the name opposite to their last names. Some of the posts are recounting experiences the anonymous people have had with the brothers; other posts show photos taken of the boys to alert other “monsters”, as they’re called on the site, to their locations. “The big tree and the meerkat are in Baltimore Maryland, watch out.”, Gabe reads the username of the person that posted it, ‘What kind of name is “Vamp_1ady” anyway?’ They shuffle against each other, clearly uncomfortable and unable to say anything. Time passes as the others sit down on Joel and Luis’ bed, slowly pulling out books to read and passing out on their beds. Luis, still sitting at the computer hours later clicking on different links over and over, doesn’t even realise that it’s now 6am. He should get some sleep. His butt is numb from not moving all night, his legs are shaky, and his back is burning from hunching. With his stuttering legs, he stands up and slowly stumbles over to his bed where he finds Sarah, with her glasses falling off her face and a book in front of her. He looks over to his roommate’s bed and finds his friends Gabe and Joel inching ever so closely to each other, asleep. ‘Cute.’ He thinks as he flops onto his bed and instantly, his eyes fall shut as if they’re being weighed down by a ships anchor.
The next day
The boys parked outside an older diner just outside , waiting to leave. ‘Dean, I don’t understand why you insist on getting pie now when we’re a few miles away from the college. They have perfectly fine pie there.’ Sam, sitting and waiting impatiently in Baby reading about the case they’re headed towards. ‘You don’t know that Sammy’, Dean remarks but doesn’t register Sam’s confused expression. ‘I went to school there, does your old-man-brain remember that? I’ve tried every single mediocre college food and pie they have there.’ Sam, with a prideful expression plastered on his face, becomes intimidated as his brothers turns from happiness and pure pie-induced bliss to frustration. ‘You know, if I didn’t love pie and Baby, I would have thrown this at you right about now. Watch yourself’.
‘’Yeah, sure. Ok so about the case it’s obviously at Stanford and students have reported a giant rat creature chasing them down the streets during at around 12-2am every night. One sophomore student, Lily Franchi, barely escaped it and got away with a fractured forearm. She says the creature held her down, bit and began twisting it around probably trying to tear it off, it’s a miracle that her elbow didn’t explode.’ Dean finishes his pie and interrupts, ‘She was pinned to the ground, and it was trying to rip off her arm? How did she even get away?’, Sam, still troubled by this himself answers ‘No one knows, according to other students and a professor, it just up and left. One student caught a video of it too, here’, Sam pulls out his phone and plays the video for Dean, a blood-curdling scream coming from Lily and other sounds like car horns and shouting from the people behind the camera can be heard.
‘Man, Splinter really let himself go huh?’ Sam, pulling his confused puppy face ‘The rat from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?’ Dean says, probably even more confused that Sam doesn’t understand his reference. ‘Whatever’ He starts the car and they’re off to Stanford, once again. After a while of driving, they get closer to the school, the former student becomes more anxious by the second just by the thought of going back there and seeing his old friends and being unable to answer the questions they’d have, his heartrate fastens and it feels like it’s about to burst out of his chest, he begins to shake, ‘Where did you go? Where have you been these past few years? Why didn’t you come back?”, he feels a pit grow in his stomach and grabs Dean’s jacket sleeve without realising.
Dean looks at him and instantly pulls the car over ‘Sam? Sammy, you, ok?’ Sam opens the door, jumps out and hunches over waiting, eyes closed hesitantly for something to come up from his stomach. Dean follows and rushes around the car to his side ‘Sam? What’s wrong?’ Sam looks up at Dean with a small river of tears in his eyes, still trying to calm down ‘Nothing, nothing. I’m fine. I was just- just overthinking.’ Dean reaches into the car and pulls out a bottle of water, handing it to Sam, now crouching on the ground like a scared dog with its tail between its legs. ‘Thanks’ Dean sits next to Sam and waits for him to calm down so they can get back on the road. ‘No problem.’ They sit there for ten minutes. ‘You wanna tell me what that was about?’ Dean questions him. Sam, whose hair is covering his face, doesn’t even look up. ‘I was thinking about someone there.’ Dean notices a tear fall from his face onto the dirt below ‘Jess?’ Sam looks up at Dean ‘No. Someone else, still alive.’ Dean’s surprised, someone other than Jess?
Who could have triggered such a strong reaction from Sam.

College Monsters - Part 1
After Sam leaves college with Dean and doesn’t come back, after Jessica’s death, they suspect him of killing Jess.
The morning after Jessica dies – 7am
Luis, one of Sam and Jessica’s best friends, is woken by a loud, thundering knock on his dorm door early in the morning. He groans and with his tired, unrested legs after walking back to his dorm after a long night studying with his friends at the library, walks over to the door. It doesn’t seem like a long walk but to his exhausted body and brain, it’s a marathon. He opens the door to two men, dressed in bright blue uniforms and a bullet vest. ‘Are you Luis Dunn?’ he’s scared ‘Yeah, yeah I’m Luis’ confused as to what’s happening and what the police could possibly want with him, the uniformed man in his door asks, ‘Do you know either Jessica Moore or Sam Winchester?’. Shit. What have they done now. ‘Yes, I know them, they’re my friends. What’s happening exactly?’ The officer hesitates before speaking, only striking more fear into Luis’ heart. ‘Jessica Moore died last night, and we’d like to know some more information on Sam Winchester.’
‘I’m sorry?’ almost on cue, other students open and peer out of their doors, watching. They whisper and mutter amongst themselves.
His heart skips a beat. His roommate Joel, also a friend of Sam and Jessica’s, walks to the door and stands behind Luis. ‘Luis, what’s happening?’ the hairs stand up on the back of his neck, he doesn’t even turn to his friend. ‘Jess uh... Jess is… dead.’ Joel, stumbles backwards to his bed in disbelief. ‘I’m sorry for your loss, but we need information. Will you boys be able to provide any information on Sam Winchester? Jessica’s parents didn’t have any information on him’ Luis takes a few steps back and they both sit on their beds. The police enter the boy’s messy shared pig-stye of a room, littered with books, pages and sticky notes strewn all over the walls, having to step over their possessions acting as if they’re mines, about to go off at any second.
They answer the policemen’s questions and are left, senseless in their room, numbed by the fact that one of their friends is dead and the other is missing, or possibly dead as well.
Luis and Joel explain to their other close friends, Sarah and Gabe, the situation at hand after the police leave.
Six years later
Luis, Joel, Sarah, and Gabe are still at college, completing their final year of their bachelors’ degree. After a long day and night of studying in the library, Sarah is “relaxing her eyes”, she falls asleep. Luis and Joel are about to leave for food and drinks for the group when Gabe, staring in disbelief at his phone screen, questions ‘What the hell?’ Joel and Luis stop. ‘What? What’s wrong now Gabe, did you study the wrong topic again?’ they laugh. ‘How long has it been since we’ve seen Sam?’ Joel is taken aback. ‘Wow, that bastard?’ ‘Joel, stop. We’ve talked about this.’ Luis barks at him and he rolls his eyes. ‘Since Jess died so around six years, why?’ ‘He’s on the news with his brother.’ Luis is surprised and Sarah wakes up, confused. ‘What are we talking about?’ ‘Sam. He’s on the news with his brother and it’s not good.’ Luis snatches Gabe’s phone from his hands and on the screen is security from the First Bank of Jericho in California. Joel peeks over Luis’ shoulder and the video plays. It shows him and his brother shooting the people in the bank’s elevator, then at the diner and finally his and Dean’s old mug shots. ‘What the fuck.’ Luis drops Gabe’s phone, normally he would freak out about it being potentially damaged, but he’s too stunned to move. ‘What’s wrong?’ Sarah asks, even more confused than before. ‘Our old friend, Sam Winchester, and his psycho brother are murderers. That’s what’s wrong.’ Sarah demands to see the phone and replays the video. The group abandons the library and each go to their dorms, saddened by the video they’d witnessed, each one trying to get some tiny sliver of sleep.
Joel and Luis, silent in their beds. Staring at the roof, too hesitant to say anything. Gabe sitting in bed, waiting for the lingering darkness of the night to fade away, Sarah doing the same. They struggle to fall under sleeps weighted blanket. Any sleep the group get, isn’t great.
The next morning
Joel, Sarah, and Gabe are all sat in their usual places at the library, Luis isn’t there yet. Joel left him to sleep in after the sudden learning experience of the night before. Luis finally decides to take on the day, organizes his studying equipment and dawdles to the library, unable to think of anything else than his old best friend. Sam was the one who was always there for everyone. Sam was the one to help him study. Sam was the one who meant everything to Luis.
Luis arrives at the steps of the library and walks up the stairs to find his friends at their normal table, books spread out everywhere like normal, but the energy is different, dim, and slow. ‘Hey bud, how are you feeling?’ Gabe asks but Luis doesn’t reply, instead he sits down and places his head in his arms. Hours go by, Luis still sitting there with his head in his arms. ‘Ok, that’s enough. Luis, get your head up and focus on something. We always knew he was strange’ Joel demands. Luis lifts his head, pushes his hood away from his face and stares at Joel. The only thing he says is ‘Fine.’ He pulls his hood back over his head, obscuring his view to just his screen. He pulls out his laptop and searches up one thing. Sam Winchester. Thousands of results pop up. Sarah, sitting next to Luis, sighs and signals to Joel and Gabe to look at their friend’s screen. Luis perks up, confused as to why so many results have come up. ‘Guys, look at this’. He can’t see but as he pulls his hood back again, his friends have surrounded him, looking curiously over his shoulders. ‘Why is there so much?’ Sarah asks. No answer. Everything from a broadcast to a book series called ‘Supernatural’ by a man called Carver Edlund. ‘What is all of this?’ no one answers Gabe, he is left unanswered, alike the rest of them. ‘We have to look at this… But not here.’
Sam and Dean are in the impala driving through Nevada just off a case, listening to Dean’s favourite music because “driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole” which he still lives by, religiously. They sit in silence as Sam researches the case they’re unknowingly heading towards. ‘Ok so I’ve found something in California which is close to us’ ‘You never put that thing down, do you? Take a break man. We’ve been on the road for days’ Dean remarks annoyed. ‘Yeah, I know Dean, but this case is close to my old college.’ Sam looks at Dean, Dean stares at the road, saying nothing. ‘Dean.’ Still nothing, Dean is as solid as stone and as quiet as a mouse. Sam isn’t sure if he can even hear what he’s saying. Sam crumbles ‘Ok what if I get you some pie’ ‘Close, but no cigar.’ Sam is frustrated. ‘We can do it but you have to promise me something’ Sam knows he’s going to regret this but he asks anyway ‘What.’ ‘You have to promise me that you’ll buy me pie whenever I ask and that you’ll put that damn iPad or whatever-the-hell that thing is down because it annoys the crap out of me.’ Sam thinks for a moment ‘Oh and you have to tell me about any embarrassing things you did in college so its actually worth it’ Sam, kind of surprised his brother would say that. 'Isn't it already worth it? We're saving people...' They pause 'Yeah it is, I just wanted to hear old embarassing stories you have...'
‘Anyway, as I was saying. This case seems like a normal Lycan case but there’s been reports from multiple people of a giant bear-like creature killing the local pets, more cats than any others and a few suspected people.’ ‘Oh wow so it’s a real-life Cats VS Dogs movie’ Dean chuckles to himself but Sam doesn’t find it funny at all. ‘You know, if Cas was here, he’d laugh at that because unlike you, he likes my jokes.’ He continues to mumble under his breath. ‘You don’t even know why Cas laughs at your jokes, do you?’ Dean’s expression changes from pride to complete and utter confusion in a split second. ‘Ahh you’re oblivious.’ Sam laughs, then instantly moves on, leaving Dean in the dark and continues to explain the details of their next case.
