Goodbye.
Ellie williams x reader
Ellie and Y/N had been inseparable since childhood. Where one went, the other followed. Y/N, with their boundless energy and wild ideas, was the spark of every adventure. ELLIE, quieter and more thoughtful, was the steadying force that kept things from spiraling out of control.
They spent summers exploring the woods behind Y/N’S house, building forts out of fallen branches, and making up stories about the mysterious creatures that lurked in the shadows. In winter, they huddled under blankets, whispering secrets and dreams for the future.
But things started to change when high school arrived. YN became restless, always chasing excitement, while ELLIE preferred the comfort of routine. YN made new friends—loud, reckless ones. ELLIE stayed behind, watching from a distance, feeling the gap between them widen.
One evening, YN showed up at Ash’s window, just like old times. "Let’s go," YN whispered. "One last adventure."
ELLIE hesitated. "Where?"
YN grinned. "The old train bridge."
ELLIO frowned. Everyone knew the bridge was dangerous. The tracks were still in use, and the river below was nothing but jagged rocks and fast currents. "That’s a bad idea," ELLS said.
YNS smile faltered. "Come on. Don’t you trust me?"
Still, saying no felt impossible. This was YN. HER YN.
With a sigh, ellie grabbed a jacket and climbed out the window.
The night was crisp, the moon casting long shadows as they made their way toward the bridge. Yn walked ahead, bouncing on the balls of their feet like a kid on Christmas morning. Ellie followed, heart pounding.
By the time they reached the bridge, ellies gut was screaming. The wooden planks creaked under their weight, and the rails stretched into the darkness like an unspoken dare.
YN turned, eyes gleaming. “Let’s walk across.”
Ellie froze. “No.”
Yn huffed. “It’s fine. People do it all the time.”
“People also get hit by trains.”
Yn laughed, but there was something brittle about it. “You used to be fun.”
Ellie clenched their fists. “I used to feel safe with you.”
That landed like a punch. For a moment, YN just stood there, staring. Then, without another word, they stepped onto the bridge.
Ellie’s breath caught. “Yn—”
“Come on, Elli.” YN spread their arms. “It’s just like when we were kids. Trust me.”
Ellie didn’t move.
YN took another step. Then another. The wind howled through the valley below. The river raged, unseen but there.
Ellie felt it before they heard it. A low hum in the rails. A vibration underfoot.
A train was coming.
“YNNNN—RUN!”
Yn turned, and for the first time all night, she looked afraid.
The moment Yn tripped, Ellie knew. The train was too close. The timing was too cruel.
Yn’s body slammed against the tracks, their ankle twisted at an impossible angle. Her eyes went wide, meeting ELLIES for just a second—just long enough for realization to set in.
Ellie lunged forward anyway, instinct taking over. Her fingers brushed YN’S wrist—just a fraction of a second too late.
Then—impact.
The world exploded into noise. The train’s horn drowned out ELLIES scream. A blur of steel and motion and unstoppable force barreled through, shaking the bridge, rattling the sky itself. ELLIE was thrown backward by the sheer force of the wind, hitting the wooden planks so hard the breath was knocked from their lungs.
And then—silence.
The train was gone.
ELLIE scrambled forward on shaking limbs, hands gripping empty air where YN had just been.
Nothing.
No YN. No last words. Just a smear of something dark on the metal rails, and the bitter taste of disbelief in ELLIE’S mouth.
Her breath hitched. No. No, this wasn’t real. This wasn’t happening. YN was supposed to make it. They always made it.
But the bridge was empty now.
And YN was gone.
