Day One
Hello ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for taking the time to read this post! Recently I have been listening to the fantastic podcast “Imaginary Worlds” by Eric Molinsky (https://www.imaginaryworldspodcast.org/), which has inspired me to start a blog through which I can share my own musings on some of my favourite pieces of fantasy, ranging from the eminent works of J.R.R. Tolkien to the more recent publications of Robin Hobb and Patrick Rothfuss. I have long loved fantasy, but as I have gotten older it has come to define my life even more. I love to escape into a good book, and find it incredible the way we can come to regard fictional characters as friends. The themes I will explore in this blog while undoubtedly evolve with time, but I am particularly interested in uncovering how the personal experiences and journeys of the authors have coloured their works of fantasy. I recently completed my undergrad in history, and so, particularly when it comes to passed authors like Tolkien, I am excited to explore how historical context has informed some of our favourite books and works of fiction. Hope you enjoy!
