undertale is like...this is a game about always choosing kindness. they are hurt by your people and they want to hurt you in turn. you must always choose kindness. making friends is difficult. you must always choose kindness. they try to kill you. you must always choose kindness. there is a draw to violence. you must always choose kindness. you don't want to choose kindness. the narration, the ghost of a child that died to their own grief, makes sure you feel the guilt. you will be held to task at the end, and there is a question; did you choose kindness? did you choose kindness? did you choose kindness? you will face the consequences of every unkindness. you will see the pain you had caused by not choosing kindness. why did you not choose kindness? it was frustrating to choose kindness, but it didn't do you the same permanent harm as you have dealt them. they were hurt so they hurt you and you chose to continue that cycle of unkindness. you can try again. you can choose kindness. but the child, your conscience and your guide and your friend, will not forget that you didn't always choose kindness. when you have chosen unkindness once, it will not be forgotten, you will be faced with the echoes of your cruelties. you must always choose kindness.

i think 2015 was the best year that undertale could have come out actually because first it had a frankly revolutionary amount of unambiguous queer representation and a tearjerking story about hope above all else to go with it and then it also had a knockoff trollface at one of the most climactic scenes in the game

Even as a zelink shipper whenever people refer to Link and Zelda as soulmates it makes me laugh, cause yeah you're not wrong they totally are but Ganondorf is also technically their soulmate in that regard? The poly shippers have gotten around that issue but for everyone else he's literally born to third wheel. No wonder he's pissed, not only does he never get to realize his ambitions he's gotta watch that awkward teenage romance over and over for eternity. It's like he keeps scrolling past his NOTP and the block button isn't working. Bottling the princess just pisses off the other one, and the other one has the invincibility of a Nokia cell phone. i think the big thing that New Tumblrinas (i.e. those who joined in the past ~5 years) are missing about sexyman history is that facelessness is PART of it. like i see a bunch of youths complaining about "the faceless podcast guy" and it's like oh. oh. we simply have different definitions of what constitutes a sexyman. you think it's sans and reigen and komaeda, which is valid but like.... cecil? wheatley? bill cipher? if they couldn't be drawn as a lanky white dude with blond hair and a vaguely menacing aura then 2013 tumblr did NOT care about them. i'm sorry to say it but sans wouldn't have survived here 10 years ago
