You are an amazing artist, any advice on how to draw with such character and life that you capture in your work
Thank you so so much!
One of my main pieces of advice is to not worry so much about anatomy!! You can get away with so much more when you put your focus on the flow of an expression rather than the logic of it!
An example could be this!:
Logically, the mouth and eyes may be seen as too big for their face and their muzzle may be seen as too small, BUT that’s anatomically!!
Pushing the boundaries of your character design to convey an expression is one of the best ways of gaining that flow!
This is a fairly rough example, but always find ways to exaggerate an expression [WHEN NECESSARY]. This could be manipulating facial features, or even the face itself, to better fit the emotion you’re conveying. This can also coincide with taking advantage of the body to follow through with your emotion, rather than having the face do all your work!
Shape language is your best friend when it comes to describing a character and their personality! (ex. I use overall specifically round shapes for Bart except for her eyes, as well as accentuating her roundness—both literally and characteristically—when drawn outside of her typical snooty expression.)
A tip that I’ve learned and worked with from my lovely best friend, where simplifying your shapes and lines to better describe a pose rather than attempt to perfect it. I’m still learning how to gain better flow, but I’m honored to know that you think so!!
Hope this helps!

Is it ever explained canonically why Falin has feathers?
It is! Albeit a little hastily in an extra, its apparently to ensure that her body doesn’t have any significant drops in temperature + the ones one her chest area are for keeping eggs warm(?) If I had to guess why she had them but the dragon doesn’t it could potentially be because mixing Falin in with the dragon has made it warm blooded and not cold like a lizard would normally be, and without any way of lighting up her flame sack she may have no way to warm herself up otherwise. Though who knows overall, maybe Thistle just thought it’d be cooler this way, and he would be correct.
