Shit-For-Brains Thinking. - Have we learned nothing from the pandemic? - The novel SARS-CoV2 virus has a way of bringing out your health vulnerabilities eventually leading to death. - The major vulnerabilities currently identified include: - 1. Metabolic Dysfunction - elevated glucose, insulin resistance, high triglycerides, low HDL - 2. Cardiovascular Dysfunction - elevated LDL-P, oxLDL, inflammation - 3. Compromised Immune Function - low WBC's, nutritional deficits and autoimmunity - 4. Inadequate Physical Health or Fitness - First, we all know that the above conditions are a major driving factor behind the risk of getting infected. - Second, simply getting a vaccine is not going to address the above conditions which are the major factors behind COVID19 severity. - If anything, getting a vaccine and then eating this metabolic shit storm of a product is going to increase your risk of death! - This is as absurd as handing out free cigarettes to people who smoke and can prove they are getting cancer treatment. - It's as ridonkulous as offering free soda to diabetics because they take their metformin. - WTF @krispykreme !!?!! We get you're trying to literally sweeten the deal for people to get a vaccine, but this is borderline manslaughter considering that the people who will actually take you up on this offer, are the same people who should be running away from it. https://www.instagram.com/p/CMu1xzsAtQm/?igshid=1d8lfxf483tmj

Testosterone and Exercise in Middle-to-Older Aged Men. - According to a pre-print study published in Hypertension, you should consider hitting the gym and skipping testosterone replacement for health. - Twelve weeks of exercise training improved arterial health and function in middle-aged and older men (50-70 years) with low-to-normal testosterone levels, while testosterone therapy provided no benefits to the arteries. - Personally, I've never been a fan of hormone replacement therapy, especially when the individual is not or has not addressed the foundations of health including thinking, eating and moving well. - If you're not eating a species appropriate diet, lifting heavy shit and sleeping like a jack ass, then don't ask about your hormones. - I cannot tell you how many men and women are on hormone replacement therapy and yet have little to show for it with respect to overall health. - This is not to say that hormones do nothing. There's certainly a time and place for replacement, but like all prescriptions, we need to appreciate the fact that they are not a panacea for health. - Snorting cocaine will give you energy and motivation, but don't confuse that with being healthy. - Testosterone sales have increased 12-fold globally in the past decades. - Hormone replacement and "Hormone Balancing" have become medicalized to the point that the pill itself can now be considered the number one endocrinopathy for women in the developed world. - I believe testosterone replacement is headed in the same direction. - The global increase in testosterone use is largely driven by the idea that it's a restorative therapy that increases energy and vitality. - However, previous studies are mixed as to whether it's beneficial or not. - Some studies suggest it can increase leg strength and size (stop skipping leg day bruh), but the results of this study suggest that if you are a healthy, yet inactive middle-aged or older man with increased abdominal girth, try exercise first. - And if your "exercise" is not working, maybe higher a pro to make sure you're doing it right? https://www.instagram.com/p/CLpRTcCAIKC/?igshid=13t195xr97tet

According to a John Hopkins Public Health professor, herd immunity is likely to occur by April. - Few organizations will discuss the fact that COVID cases are down 77% in the past 6 weeks. - This is not just a gradual decline, but a precipitous one. - Why doesn't the media report "good news" rather than idiotic statements like the one given by Gates & Co. suggesting we get 3 vaccines or that we just need to "eat synthetic meat"? - The decline in cases is not because of masks, distancing or vaccines. - Israel is the most vaccinated country in the world and cases are only down 44%. - Cases are even declining despite reports of ”scary” new variants from the UK, Brazil, and South Africa. - It’s happening because of herd immunity achieved through natural infection. - Antibody studies almost certainly underestimate natural immunity. - Antibody testing doesn’t capture antigen-specific T-cells, which develop 'memory' once they are activated by the virus. - Survivors of the 1918 Spanish flu were found in 2008 - 90 years later - to have memory cells still able to produce neutralizing antibodies. - Researchers in Sweden found that the percentage of people mounting a T-cell response after mild or asymptomatic Covid-19 infection exceeded the percentage with detectable antibodies. - T-cell immunity was even present in people who were exposed to infected family members but never developed symptoms. - The consistent decline in daily cases since January 2021 can really only be explained by natural immunity. - Experts, politicians and leaders of major health organizations are all afraid to talk about herd (natural) immunity because it sounds barbaric. - Just let COVID rip into communities and we'll achieve herd immunity. - Reality Check: Herd immunity is the inevitable result of viral spread and vaccination. - When the chain of virus transmission has been broken in multiple places, it’s harder for it to spread. That's biology. It's how it works. - Don't ever forget: The same power that made your body, is the same power that heals it. https://www.instagram.com/p/CLe314Xg8T0/?igshid=1nzkjss3k21an

Posting for memories. - Austin and most of Texas are frozen. - The unprecedented winter storm has stressed the state’s power grid, forcing power companies to impose blackouts to conserve energy to keep critical infrastructure such as hospitals and water treatment plants online. - But some city power and water plants are offline. - Many cities and neighborhoods are not experiencing rolling blackouts; they’re simply on full blackout with no power for days. - As of today there are millions of households (estimated between 2-4 million) without power and running power. - There are massive power outages and failures of backup generators at public health departments. - Grocery stores are closed. Convenient stores are running low on supplies. - The Houston Chronicle was forced to stop printing after its plant lost power at 2 a.m. In a note to subscribers, the newspaper said that didn't happen even when the city was battered by Hurricane Harvey in 2017. - Already, the blaming games have started. - More and more it’s obvious how unprepared humans really are. - Under these circumstances, you can see how quickly people lose their shit. - I can only imagine if we had to survive without utilities for a few weeks. - Humans, after all, run the government. At least we think they’re human? - Texas is the world’s third-biggest gas producer and yet hasn’t been able to keep all its residents’ lights on and houses heated. - It’s going to be interesting to see how it all unfolds as to why. - Is it because we didn’t invest time or money weatherizing our power plants? - Or is it because the operator of the state’s electric grid, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) simply dropped balls? - It’s disheartening to think of all the people suffering and I hope they all find the strength to dig deep, find internal warmth and energy and do good things for other people during the shit-winter storm hitting our state. https://www.instagram.com/p/CLaFTprgYL7/?igshid=t3jommro4hu6

Even during the Pandemic, Heart Disease Remains the #1 Cause of Death. - Heart failure is the main discharge diagnosis in adults over the age of 65 and it costs Medicare $31 Billion a year! - Those with heart failure often take boatloads of medications and the average is 6.8 prescriptions with 10.1 doses per day. - This estimate does not take into account over the counter medications. - Unfortunately, most of medicine is fragmented and its not unusual to have medications ordered and adjusted by varying physicians. - It's important for clinicians to know which drugs, over the counter or prescription, can worsen heart failure. - I'd argue it's more important for the patient - you are your best doctor - to also understand the same information. - Here are 10 examples of drugs that could precipitate or exacerbate heart failure: - 1. NSAIDs. Analgesics inhibit prostaglandin, which leads to sodium and water retention, heightened vascular resistance and a blunted diuretic response; all factors that underlie heart failure. - 2. A1-Blockers. These urological agents stimulate B1 receptors which increase renin and aldosterone levels. - 3. Antimalarials. Hydroxychloroquine inhibit lyosomal enzymes which precipitate major heart failure. - 4. TNF-A Inhibitors. Rheumatologic agents that cause cytokine mediated heart failure. - 5. Albuterol. This asthma medication decreases B receptor responsiveness, leading to moderate heart failure. - 6. Anticancer Agents. In a case of having to pick your poison, getting rid of cancer with these compounds can result in collateral damage of your hear. - 7. Antifungals. Some of these compounds are connected to moderate heart failure due to unknown mechanisms. - 8. Minoxidil. This grows your hair, but acts as a peripheral vasodilator, contributing to heart failure. - 9. Calcium Channel Blockers. Ironically used to treat high blood pressure, these drugs are negative inotropes that cause heart disease. - 10. Antidiabetic Meds. Metformin can cause major heart failure due to increased anaerobic metabolism. - Bottom line: poly pharmacy is dangerous and contributes to conditions we’re trying to prevent! https://www.instagram.com/p/CLU8Ifmg6Nv/?igshid=1r2r7calrdb2w

Magnesium Deficiency contributes to Immunodeficiency and Inflammation. - After analyzing hundreds, if not a thousand blood chemistry panels, I can confirm most humans have functional or overt magnesium deficiency. - Magnesium is nothing sexy by itself, but given that it contributes to every single biochemical reaction in the body, it's safe to say it gets skipped over with respect to serious health conditions and dysfunctions. - In a magnesium deficient state, monocytes release more inflammatory cytokines (bad for COVID-19) and magnesium supplementation reduces cytokine activity (J Immunol. 2012 Jun 15;188(12):6338-46). - Reduced intracellular magnesium causes dysfunctional expression of natural killer cells and CD8 T cells which is part of your adaptive immune system (Biol Trace Elem Res. Apr-May 1994;41(1-2):115-27 and Sci Rep . 2017 Oct 19;7(1):13594). - Magnesium deficiency also promotes oxidative stress and depletes intracellular glutathione, both of which contribute to inflammation and cytokine storms (Life Sci. 1997;60(3):221-36.). - All that said, let me say it louder: LOW MAGNESIUM = INCREASED VIRAL REPLICATION and may contribute to COVID-19 SEVERITY. - Finally, if that's not enough to worry about, worrying itself depletes magnesium by activating the sympathetic nervous system (Magnes Trace Elem. 1991-1992;10(2-4):287-30). - Stressful events such as over exertion, fasting, high blood sugar, high insulin, sleep deprivation and watching the news all damn day make you burn through magnesium faster than big business burned through PPP loans. - Food is certainly the best medicine, but magnesium depletion from food food has been caused by pesticides and fertilizers. - Not only do these compounds kill off beneficial bacteria, earthworms and other bugs, but these organisms create nutrients for our soil. - Nuts and seeds are not good sources because most of the practices we have in terms of producing them result in low nutritional yield. - Eat yo organ meats, mackerel, leafy greens and vegetables! - Get optimized @drdaniel.com https://www.instagram.com/p/CLKbkd5gmEg/?igshid=161nc1k2cro8q

Are you really living? - Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity are one of the biggest non-genetic risk factors that contribute to the severity of COVID-19 (BMJ 2020;369:m1548). - Diabetics have a 27.7% higher mortality rate from COVID-19 and a shocking 7 million people are walking around sipping latte's who have metabolic dysfunction and don't know it. - Ironically, studies show that obese individuals show greater declines in vaccine efficacy than non-obese people (Int J Obes (Lond). 2017 Sep; 41(9): 1324–1330.). - In fact, not just obesity, but simply being overweight is associated with reduced protective immune responses after vaccination over time (Int J Obes. 2012 Aug;36(8):1072-7). - It gets even worse.. the pro-inflammatory state that obese individuals have in their body may allow for the emergence of mutated novel virulent strains (PLoS Pathog 16(8): e1008711.). 😫 - This is an appropriate place to say, "Fucking Shit." 🤬 - We all know that there are some people who catch the big bad bug and just like Jay-Z you "get that dirt off yo shoulder!" - But then there's those individuals who catch the bug and DAYUM - a few days later they're in an ICU. - If you don't already see it, think of the 2020 pandemic as a practice drill. - There are few things that have become more important over the last year as a robust, fully functioning immune system. - Having a healthy immune system is something that few people really think about until they need to. - Now's the time to start thinking about your metabolic health. Not just when you "get sick" or develop symptoms. - The current pandemic has revealed weaknesses in our healthcare system, approach to care, economy and individual health. - This is the wake up call (in case you don't know), to start shifting our mindset on diet, exercise and overall health. - There's little you can do to control events like those that unfolded last year. - You can, however, take control of your own body and the necessary steps to optimize health and fitness. https://www.instagram.com/p/CLH-pNeggvs/?igshid=1renfehh9fi8l

A comprehensive Wheat/Gluten reactivity test is the only way to truly assess gluten sensitivity. - The specific biomarkers include IgA and IgG testing for: - Wheat, Wheat Germ Agglutinin, Non-Gluten Proteins A & B, Gliadin Toxic Peptides, Native + Deaminated Alpha-Gliadin, Alpha-Gliadin-17, Gamma-Gliadin-15, Omega-Gliadin-17, Glutenin-21, Gluteomorphin + Prodynorphin, Gliadin-Transglutaminase, Microbial Transglutaminase, Transglutaminase 2, 3 and 6. - Do not assume you're not reacting to gluten unless you've been assessed for all the above. - And if it makes you rage to think you'll have to eliminate gluten, you'll likely test positive for Gluteomorphin or Prodynorphin, because that suggests you’re addicted to wheat! - Or maybe you’ve got crazy skin problems that won’t go away, you might test positive for Transglutaminase-3, suggesting autoimmune reactivity to skin. - Depression, panic, anxiety can all be signs of reactivity to the brain and measured with Transglutaminase-6. - Regardless of digestive symptoms, if you're reacting to any protein in the Gluten Proteome, you should implement a gluten free diet. - If you're better - badass, stick with it. If you're not improving from a gluten free diet, then assess for Cross-Reactive Gluten Sensitivities (buckwheat, amaranth, quinoa, tapioca, potato, etc.) - If you're negative to any cross-reactive foods, then assess for Intestinal Permeability. You need to determine if you have any permeability and if so, what type. If you're positive to any cross-reactive foods, then use the results to tailor your diet and see what happens. - Beyond all the above, if you have intestinal permeability, you'll need to heal your digestive tract and re-assess to see if your food sensitivities go away. - If you don't have permeability issues but you're still intolerant, we're missing something. Maybe it's autoimmunity, chemical sensitivity or pathogens. - Either way, "This is the Way!" https://www.instagram.com/p/CKpDMgOAYW8/?igshid=jma5x0m7hvhn

Understanding Food Sensitivities - There are 3 tiers to assessing food sensitivities: Gluten Reactivity, Cross-Reactive Gluten Reactivity and then all the other foods that your immune system could be reacting to. - In many cases, gluten reactivity is what primes our immune system to react to other foods. - So the most important factor is going to be your gluten sensitivity or determining if your immune system can handle it. - Please note: a standard blood test for gluten sensitivity is not enough to know what's up. - Conventional testing for gluten only looks at Tissue Transglutaminase IgG and IgA, Deaminated Gliadin IgG and IgA antibodies. This is only 4 out of a possible 16 proteins that are part of the Gluten Proteome. - Also realize that you could be reacting to gluten and have zero poop probs. - So don't ASSume gluten isn't causing problems just because you’re butt isn’t mad. - Now if you do have any sensitivity to gluten, there's a strong chance (>90%) you’re also reacting to gluten free foods, that have cross-reactivity or molecular mimicry with gluten. - Cross Reactivity and molecular mimicry occur with foods such as dairy, rice of all types, quinoa, buckwheat, amaranth, potato, millet, hemp, teff, etc. - These are also foods that people tend to consume on a “gluten free diet” - This is why the 2nd tier of food testing involves assessing for Cross-Reactive Gluten reactivity. - Now if you have gluten issues and you also identify the foods that you have cross-reactive issues with and eliminate them, there's a good chance that any other food sensitivities will diminish; including symptoms. - Specifically, eliminating Gluten and Cross Reactive Gluten foods from your diet should help with the majority of your symptoms. - If you find that you're still symptomatic after eliminating the above foods for 90 days, then i'd consider the larger food sensitivity panels that assess all other foods. - Finally, understand that most food companies out there only test for raw dietary proteins. Unless you're eating raw food, it's useless information. So you want a food test that measures both raw and cooked dietary proteins (heat changes protein structure). - Nam sayin? https://www.instagram.com/p/CKj6ofQA5zC/?igshid=1d8mcd4ke8n1j

Don’t ever let a doctor tell you that food doesn’t matter. - Food Absolutely Matters. - And it's damn-right disturbing how many "specialists" out there continue to say that it doesn't. - Food is the most powerful form of medicine. - In fact, in classical medicine, food and diet was central to both prevention and treatment of disease. - Today, so many cancer therapeutics and anti-inflammatory therapeutics have been derived or isolated from land and sea vegetables and animals. - To say food doesn't matter is negligent. - To tell an autoimmune patient that food doesn't matter, should be a crime. - Out of the four categories of triggers that cause our immune system to attack our own tissues, Food is the biggest one. - In descending order (specifically for autoimmune patients), the most notorious foods causing reactivity include gluten, dairy, cross-reactive grains (including gluten free foods), nightshades and foods containing lectins. - Not all autoimmune patients will react to the above foods. - But if you have not identified whether or not these foods are causing your immune system to attack your own tissues, you've got some work to do. https://www.instagram.com/p/CKhRWhUgGgS/?igshid=ulc3a2c0ldn6

Birth Control (BC) Probs are Real! - Yet doctors continue to prescribe them without fully informing their patient’s on the potential pitfalls and side effects. - BC has become a ubiquitous part of the modern healthcare system, with an estimated 151 million women utilizing them worldwide in 2019. - While BC may be listed as essential, scientific inquiry has begun to demonstrate the potential mood-altering side effects and how there may be more than the suppression of ovulation going on. - It is well known that estrogen and progesterone influence the brain as well as mood regulation. - In addition to their role as sex steroids, these hormones also act as neurosteroids with receptors located throughout the brain, particularly in areas of emotional and cognitive processing. - BC comes in a variety of combinations of strengths as well as estrogens and progestogens. - Note: birth control does not contain progesterone. - Instead it contains a combination of an estrogen and progestin or even a progestin only. - Progestins are effective in keeping you from getting preggers, but the question remains, “Could progestins be to blame for some of the negative mood concerns demonstrated with oral birth control?” - The enzyme monoamine oxidase (MAO) is involved in the breakdown of serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine. - Studies have demonstrated that progestins, more than progesterone, increase MAO activity leading to a surge in the degradation of serotonin and the catecholamines, and is possibly why some women report mood altering effects with usage. - While the research is mixed in this area, reports of low dose progestin-only pill use in teens has been shown to increase the use of antidepressants when compared with other nonuser teens. - All prescription medications affect your body's absorption and utilization of nutrients. - Birth control pills specifically deplete your body of several B vitamins (riboflavin, B6, B12, and folic acid), vitamin C, magnesium, and zinc. - All of the above nutrient deficiencies could also contribute to mood alteration. - If you use birth control pills or HRT, make sure you're getting enough of these nutrients. https://www.instagram.com/p/CKZqEW8glUP/?igshid=1viicc1671q5z

A new study published in Frontiers in Physiology compared how age affects strength gains. - Researchers compared 5 groups of individuals ranging from 20 to 76 years of age and how they responded to maximal strength training programs. - If you're a patient of mine, you know I won't let you say stupid shit like, "I'm just getting old." - First, appreciate that fact that LIFESPAN is not the same as HEALTHSPAN. - Second, the science of longevity and how to thrive in life has exploded in the last few years, and the idea that ageing is inevitable is starting to be challenged. - In this particular study, How do you think strength gains differed by decade of age? - They Didn't. - "There were no differences in improvements between the five age groups or between male and female participants, and there were no non-responders." - Ok Boomer .. Did you hear that, or do you need me to speak louder? 🗣👂🏽 - What I'm saying here is that our preconceived notions surrounding the negative effects of age are mostly wrong. - Most problems people have that they associate with their age are the results of shitty diets and sedentary lifestyles. - The conclusion of the study: "To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to report improvement in leg-press maximal strength regardless of gender, baseline strength status in all age groups." - Hit like if you would like a future with more jacked grandmas 👵🏋️♀️and grandpappy's 👴🏋️out there 🙌🏽💪🏽 https://www.instagram.com/p/CKW_O5xgY2-/?igshid=1qmsr098etr8b

Why do some humans react horribly to a SARS-CoV-2 infection and others experience zero symptoms? - Maybe it has to do with our immune function and immune barriers? - This also makes sense given the fact that the elderly and those with chronic health conditions (i.e. heart disease, diabetes and respiratory disorders) have the greatest risk of severity. - When you understand immune resilience and how a break down of immune barriers is associated with all of the major chronic health conditions, then of course, it makes sense that an autoimmune reaction might be part of what's happening. - Immune barriers are part of our innate immune system. - Examples of our immune barriers include the skin or epidermal barrier, intestinal barrier, pulmonary barrier and blood brain barrier. - When these barriers become permeable or dysfunctional, your shit is broken. - Intestinal barrier permeability or leaky gut can result in all sorts of digestive dysfunctions. - Epidermal barrier permeability or leaky skin can result in acne, eczema, psoriasis, etc. - The pulmonary barrier or leaky lungs can cause respiratory conditions. - Breaches in the blood brain barrier can be associated with anxiety, panic, depression, etc. - There are now over 7,000 peer-reviewed studies published on molecular mimicry and autoimmune diseases and over 50 recognized cross-reactive relationships between specific viral and human tissue proteins. - Ass much of an ass that SARS-CoV-2 is, I'm pretty sure it's playing its part here. - Things that make you go 🤔Hmmmmm.... https://www.instagram.com/p/CKUsGCFgM35/?igshid=1am02xqr2fit2

All I Wanted to Do Today Was Run in the Rain. - During my run I started thinking about all the humans out there who set the right intentions at the beginning of the year. - And I'm wondered how many of us out there are sticking to it? - We all want to become better people - stronger, healthier, sexier, more creative and more skilled, a better friend or family member. - Certainly the beginning of the year is when most of us are super pumped and motivated. - We get really inspired and start doing things better, and then sure enough... over time, it gets harder to actually stick to new behaviors. - The road to success can be monotonous. - The reality is, for most humans, good intentions or not, we're more likely this time next year to be doing the same damn things, that give us the same damn results. - Why is that? What can you do to make it different? - One of the keys to sticking to your goals or habits is to not focus on your outcomes, but the identity or the person you have to become whose outcomes are an expression of their identity. - In other words, rather than having a goal of running a marathon (outcome), just focus on becoming a runner (identity). - If you want to lose 30 lbs - become the person who moves more by tracking your daily steps, increasing the number of steps you take over time and continuously increasing it over the next year. - When you want to become better at something, you need to be willing to let go of your "old self" and willing to become the "new identity" that reflects that you want. - Changing an identity is why most people fail. It’s hard to change. - Proving your identity to yourself is far more important than getting results. - If you're looking to make a change, then I say stop worrying about results and start worrying about your identity. - Because the person you have to become, the specific steps it will take to become that person and most importantly, the progress you make while becoming that person matters more than the results. https://www.instagram.com/p/CKPT1pkA3ib/?igshid=133kq99r751pt

What Does 95% Effectiveness Mean? - The clinical trials run by Big Pharma & Co. were designed to see if vaccines protect people from GETTING SICK from COVID19, not actually preventing infection. - When it comes to scientific research and design, asking the right question matters. This is one such case. - It’s natural to think a solution is a solution if it solves a problem. - This is why dozens of drugs are released into the marketplace (even after being studied) and turn out to be disasters. - We operate in a world that favors immediate actions and quick fixes that never seems to have the time (or willingness) to dig deeper and answer the hard questions. - As a whole, we are not interested in investing time to answer the hard questions because we're too busy putting out small fires. It’s a vicious cycle. - But if we asked the right questions, more often than not, we wouldn't be in situations fixing problems that wouldn’t come up in the first place. - For example, the COVID19 vaccines are said to have a 95% effective rate. - What does that mean? - It doesn't mean that 95 out of every 100 people vaccinated will be protected from COVID19. - Huh!?! - Pfizer's trial recruited 43,661 volunteers and waited for 170 people to develop symptoms of COVID19, who also tested positive. - Out of the 170 who became symptomatic, 162 were given placebo and 8 got the real vaccine. - From the 170, researchers calculated the fraction of PEOPLE WHO GOT SICK between both groups. - Both fractions were small, but the unvaccinated group (who fell ill) was much bigger than the fraction of vaccinated people (who fell ill). - Scientists then determined the relative difference between those two fractions and expressed it as 95%. - 95% is certainly compelling, but that number doesn’t tell you what your chances are of becoming sick if you get vaccinated. - It implies that the vaccine reduces severity of illness in those who end up becoming symptomatic and testing positive. - What about the rest of the 43,491 people who didn't become symptomatic? Is there a difference in severity within that group? Did they get COVID? Does it matter? - I'm writing an article on this and it's' coming in hot 🔥 https://www.instagram.com/p/CKMnE0dg8-l/?igshid=11kgnlokjy79l
