Quick Tips for the Aspiring Voice Actor
Audition for as many things as possible; by the same token, practice over and over and over again. You donât need to be super extroverted to be a VA (in fact, itâs a pretty singular kind of gig), but itâs good to show your stuff to people who wonât mechanically say âgood jobâ (i.e. parents).
Understand you will get 100 noâs to every 1 yes. This is the entertainment industry. Itâs tough. But for every person that gives up, you open a space for someone who had the ambition to keep going. In fact, you likely wonât even be told of rejections. Pro-level and some below only contact actors they cast. Getting used to rejection will keep you mentally healthy.
Have fun! Donât hold back in your auditions. Itâs better to overact than underact in the VA world. Plus, if youâre not having fun, then what the hell are you doing here?
Save up money for good equipment. Cheap starter stuff includes the Blue Snowball and the Blue Yeti. Pop filter on top of that and voila, you got yourself a pretty good set-up. Add some sound foam and youâre already ahead of a large chunk of people in the field.
Audition, practice, audition!

Support young artists who arenât very good at drawing yet but are still brave enough to post what they made
Support new artists who want to improve and are slowly struggling to get better
Support artists who are trying things outside of their comfort zone and ending up with outcomes that are mediocre compared to their usual work
Support artists who make 30000 OCs simply because they love designing characters
Support artists who are overly judgmental of their creations
Support artists who are positive about their creations
Support artists
If a critique is requested, be honest⊠but for the love of all things good and holy do not degrade, bully, or act condescending toward an artist just because their picture doesnât match up to your standard of quality.
