“   oh,   i’m   sure   about   that.   ”   noah   agrees,   smiling   slightly.   as   for   him,   he   wasn’t   good   at   sports   either,   he   was   ‘not   so   mediocre’  in   athletics   but   other   than   that,   he   was   a   mess.   he   preferred   other   things,   programming   and   things   that   had   to   do   with   computers.   especially   since   it   had   helped   him   save   his   semester   by   him   hacking   into   the   university’s   system.   noah   turns   his   face   a   little   to   look   at   her   when   he   hears   her   question   and   clicks   his   tongue.   “   c’mon,   gabby.   it’s   not   like   it’s   something   new.   ”   he   says,   tilting   his   head   to   the   side.   if   he   was   honest,   he   didn’t   like   being   in   his   own   house.   things   in   the   family   were   already   pretty   fucked   up   when   he   had   met   gabriella’s   brother   and   in   his   family   he   had   found   something   like   a   ’refuge’,   even   they   felt   more   like   a   family   than   his   own.   “   you   know   i   like   it   here…   ”   he   says   with   a   slight   shrug.   “   although   i   kinda   hate   sleeping   in   the   same   room   as   your   brother   because   his   fucking   feet   still   stink   like   when   we   were   16.   ”   noah   teases,   letting   a   soft   laugh   escape   his   lips.   just   as   he   had   known   his   best   friend   for   a   good   amount   of   time   now,   he   had   also   known   grabiella   for   quite   some   time,   and   he   had   always   thought   that   there   was   a   peculiar   connection   between   them,   it   was   strange,   it   was   even   palpable   and   yes,   he   couldn’t   deny   that   she   was   so   nice   and   funny   and   pretty,   but   she   was   way   out   of   his   league,   especially   since   she   was   his   best   friend’s   sister.   any   chance   of   having   anything   more   than   a   friendship   with   her   was   nonexistent.   he   was   certain   that   his   friend   would   never   accept   it,   because   he   knew   the   kind   of   person   noah   was.   noah   is   silent   for   a   moment   and   then   speaks   again,   “   do   you   want   to   go   for   a   walk   on   the   beach   ?   ”   he offers.

summer vacation is not the end of all worlds for the young woman. yet her injured ankle will cause her to miss out on her upcoming ice skating competition. and many more if her coach deems her unfit to compete during the fall. of course, the blame is all on her due to her over-competitiveness. next time, listen to your roommate and sleep instead of practicing for four hours. “but catch my brothers on the rink any day of the week, i will destroy them.” she teases as she rocks the bench by lifting her legs. she glances away from him as rolling her eyes playfully, “hey, maybe one day, you will realize that my brother is a terrible human being. you may know that already though.” she sticks her tongue out at him, laughing slightly. honestly, it wouldn’t surprise her if her parents pulled out some adoption papers for noah one day. that’s how close her family is with the young man. She often believed there was a reason he stuck around their family. but, prying wasn’t in her nature unless it involved her brothers. 

“please don’t remind me. we used to share a bedroom during our elementary years. it was a nightmare, especially during the summer.” she lays her head back, closing her eyes for a second before gazing back at him. even though noah is her brother’s best friend, the pair often see and speak to each other like old friends. it doesn’t help that the brunette has a slight crush that grows daily. yet, if he were any other boy, she would’ve made a move. however, if her brother found out, all hell would break loose. the young woman refuses to cause a rift between the two males. she tilts her head slightly at his question before offering a kind smile, “i would love to, and don’t worry, as long as i’m not hiking on a mountain, i’m good to go.” she speaks referring to her sprained ankle but multiple rehab appointments prove that everything is well now. at least, that’s what she thinks. " just no racing, and everything would be fine. injured or not, i would still beat you, though.” she stands up from the bench, grabbing her bag and placing it over her shoulder.
