A sneaky foreshadowing

Felice rides because it's expected of her, not because she likes it.

And she doesn't like it.

Felice gets off Rousseau, and is replaced by Sara.

Sara has a real connection with Rousseau. She understands horses.

This is a neat little parallel to their relationship with August.

Felice pursues him not because she really wants it herself, but because of the expectations and pressure from her parents, especially mother.

Sara pursues August because she chooses it herself, and they have a genuine connection.

Both of them give up riding. Felice because she doesn't actually enjoy it, Sara because she gets a look behind the façade and she doesn't like what she sees - no one actually cares about protecting the horses, they're treated like things, like a product that is bpught and sold with no thoughts to their wellbeing.

Just like the royal family is also treated as a product to be marketed to sell certain ideas and values, with no consideration for the wellbeing of the individuals.

Wille got away, saved by his queerness and love for Simon, while August - who already struggles with an eating disorder and drug addiction - is trapped in a position that will make his life hell.

I'm stating to feel a slightly offended by the vampire!Simon discourse in the YR fandom !

I mean, yes, Omar's fangs and everything, and Simon looks like a thirsty little demon sometimes (as well as an angel).

But who is tall and pale and dramatic and lonely ?

Who is cursed by a power he doesn't want ? Who is fearing the light (the truth, the scrutinity, ...) ?

Who is openly obsessed by the other, dreaming about him and his neck ?

(Who is selfishly ready to keep the other in a situation he doesn't want a cage to enjoy his compagny.)

I love how in 3x2, Simon says “no one’s gonna want to share a tent with us cause they think we’re gonna have sex”. As if it’s a ridiculous assumption that was made only because they’re gay. As if these 2 morons haven’t been sucking each other’s faces non-stop in every corner of the school. Like, gee, I wonder why someone wouldn’t wanna share a tent with you guys?
