I've just ordered some stuff so that I can attempt to fix my laptop myself 🫣🥲

Here's how the adventure to the shop went...

Momo: hi, my laptop makes a horrible noise, I think it's the fan. I've tried cleaning them but it still makes the noise. I've recorded the sound it makes, in case it doesn't do it right now

Repair guy: okay, let me look... Well you've done a great job of cleaning it, everything looks fine? Let's see if it makes the sound

Laptop vc: oh no I'm so shy I'm not gonna misbehave at all 🫣

Repair guy: seems fine to me. If it's not making the sound, it won't make the sound BTW this is a great laptop blah blah mansplaining blah blah

Momo: uh huh... Okay, well, I promise you it Does make the noise

Repair guy: it's fine, bye

Laptop, as Soon as I get home: brrr brrr noisy rattle rattle brr brr

The chaos of the party around them was familiar and welcoming, and despite the time that had passed and that she was no longer a member of the guild, Levy knew it would always be so. She smiled as she watched the interactions around her, taking a moment to drift towards a quieter spot. It was fun to be among the excitable crowd at times, but for now she felt more in the mood to observe. It had been a while since she’d seen some of the people around, sometimes she just wanted to soak in the view of them. And yes, maybe it was a bit safer to be on the fringes when certain people were becoming more and more…fired up.

It didn’t take long for someone else to seek a respite in her corner. She smiled in greeting at Chico, and almost missed the trace of amusement in the other woman’s eyes as she gestured her to come closer. Intrigued, Levy shifted a step nearer and leaned in as Chico beckoned her, focusing on catching her words.

“Have you seen the latest Mage Magic?”

Levy blinked and then sighed in exasperation, even as she couldn’t help but smile at the ridiculousness of the freshest headline.

“Mhm,” she said, giving a brief roll of her eyes, “The one that says I'm dating someone from Lamia? Or the one that says I'm with someone from Blue Pegasus?” It was amazing what the desperate reporters would cling onto, it didn't seem to matter to them that visiting other guilds and talking to people was part of her job.

As wild as some rumours could be, at least they provided some amount of entertainment, she supposed. Levy’s smile grew mischievous, and she gently nudged Chico.

“Are you sure you want to be standing next to me? The headline next week might be that we secretly got married.”

Excitement energised her, powering a bright grin as he mentioned the potential for hearing him play the piano sometime. She rocked back and forth slightly to expel excess energy, a giggle escaping at the idea of Eve and his friends attempting to move such a large instrument around. Again, she had to marvel at his self control, and hope that it would be a lesson she would keep in mind next time she felt the urge to make a particularly big purchase.

“Even with magic, I’m sure moving a piano around is probably not fun,” she commented in amusement. And as much as she didn’t want to, she had to look away as he grinned, as if his expression was too radiant for her to behold for too long (truthfully, that was indeed the case). The brilliance warmed her cheeks with a delicate pink, as if she’d spent a little too long under the sun. She couldn’t help but lift a hand to cup her cheek, grateful for a touch of coolness.

Her eyes then followed the movement of his hand as he ruffled the grass beside them. She focused on his words, even while the Hare soul she had brought partially to the surface attuned itself to their surroundings, long ears twitching slightly.

With a touch of a frown, she nodded, “Mmm, I know what you mean. I don’t like it when people take apart perfectly fine things just to ‘upcycle’ them.” Before she could let herself get pulled into that topic, Eve’s offer captured her attention. Once again, she found herself grinning, almost bouncing with excitement.

“Oh, really?? I would love that.” She clasped her hands together in the attempt to contain herself as he went on. Intrigue tilted her head at the mention of Sherry Blendy and she rifled through her mind for the image and connection. Ah yes.

She sighed wistfully, hands unclasping simply to then hold her face. “She is so pretty…”

Eve’s question pulled her back and she dropped her hands, sitting up a little straighter as she smiled widely. “As a matter of fact, I’ve just moved into a cute little cottage and it’s a bit of a fixer-upper, so it’s sort of one big on-going project to make it nice again. The landlord has said I can do whatever I want in the garden, so that’s been my focus. I’ve been looking for cute and cool things to decorate the space with. I’ve seen some really pretty bird feeders made from tea sets, so I’ve been on the lookout for some nice ones.”

Tapping her lips in thought, she added, “I’d like to add a bench or seat of some kind under the apple tree too.”

Lightly tracing the floral design on the side of her teacup, Lisanna waited for her companion’s response with great interest. Curiosity played along her lips in a smile, part of her thoughts drifting back and wondering when the last time had been that she had talked with someone on such topics. With everything that had been going on (the finding of new paths to take since Fairy Tail had disbanded), she supposed it had been quite some time.

Ordinarily, she might have talked with Lucy, Levy, or Mira, about ‘types’ and things that interested them in terms of relationships, but even with the growing using of MCLs, they hadn’t really had the occasion to really chat (and it was always better in person anyway). To find herself in such a discussion with Evergreen was…strange, but not in a bad way, not at all. Gaining even a small amount of insight into the woman was rewarding in some way, and Lisanna wondered if Evergreen had many close female friends to turn to.

“Clinginess?” Lisanna hummed thoughtfully; head canted on a delicate angle. No, she supposed she couldn’t imagine Evergreen with a clingy partner, someone constantly in her personal space or wanting her time and attention every minute of every day. Yes, she could imagine Evergreen with someone who had their own hobbies and interests, sharing a sort of ‘existing separately but together’ sort of dynamic where they could do their own thing in each other’s company perhaps. Someone who wasn’t pushy or needy and who could enjoy their own company just as well as she could her own, and who would show interest and support in the things she was drawn to. It sounded healthy, balanced. Was it warm enough?

Lisanna sighed a wistful note, even as her smile took on a trace of sheepishness. She tucked a part of her fringe back behind her ear as she admitted, “I wouldn’t mind a bit of clinginess. I mean, I would still want my own space and time of course, but I think the idea of someone wanting to be around me all the time, staying close…it’s nice.”

Resting her elbow on the table and her head in her hand, her gaze drifted across the room and became rather unfocused. “I suppose there’s some sort of difference between physical clinginess and emotional or mental clinginess, do you think? I know physical affection or any sort of closeness like that isn’t for everyone, but I think I’d like that.” She didn’t know for sure, of course, and could only base the thought around platonic experiences but…a girl could dream.

“It’d be nice to have someone there, always within reach, or already right there, holding you like you’re the most precious person in the world to them... You’ll never be alone, never be forgotten…” Never be taken away from them. You’ll be safe.

Sometimes, it felt as if she would drift away, disconnect from her body and fade into nothingness. Sometimes, it scared her. Sometimes, it didn’t, which was perhaps more unsettling than anything else. It was touch that grounded her, tethered her to the world, reassured her that she was real, present, that someone had her, chose her. She wasn’t lost.

She blinked, pulling herself back to the moment, face beginning to turn a faint pink, hoping she hadn’t revealed too much or worse, completely missed something Evergreen had said. “Um, but yeah, would you…consider yourself an affectionate person?”

incredibly frustrating...each time i sit down to write, my laptop makes a whirry noise and so i have to turn it off and let it chill out. sometimes it can go a few hours being Fine but today its like every 20 mins
