Solar PV or photo voltaic systems convert energy from the sun into electricity that can be used to power lighting and other appliances. Most PV systems are grid-tied and the electricity can be used at source or fed back into the grid. Standalone grid-tied systems only feed the electricity back into the grid and do not use any at source. Off-grid systems that charge batteries can also be installed in remote locations where there is no grid nearby. How suitable is your property? Before considering installing Solar PV at your property, it is important to be aware of the likely costs and potential savings. You should have a basic understanding of the Feed In Tariffs and the fact that the large up-front cost will take several years to recover Solar PV Checklist Real Estate Services Property / land is owned by the user, not rented. You NEED a Wire Stripper
When stripping insulation from wiring, you might be tempted to use the cutting jaws on lineman’s pliers, needle-nose pliers or even diagonal cutters. Don’t do it! The sharp cutters on those jaws can create a score line around the copper wire, making a weak point where the wire can snap off. Spend a few extra bucks and get a wire stripper—they cost $10 to $25 at home centers.
Multipurpose lineman’s pliers with built-in strippers are also available for $20 to $45. Just match the gauge of the stripper jaws with the gauge of the wire you’re stripping, close the jaws and strip away.
With the right wire nut connectors and terminals, it’s fairly easy to make safe, strong electrical connections. Learn How to Make Safe Wire Connections.
