She leant her head on his shoulder, an arm around him. It’d been too long since they’d spent time together. “It isn’t France, but… the people, the town, everything about it… It is home for me. Very little could have me leave it. When the day comes that I become Queen… I don’t know that I’ll be ready to leave it and return to Court.” She smiled sadly, kissing his head. “I hope you find what you are looking for here, Basil. I really do.”
.
Leaning against his sister he didn’t say anything as he listened to her talk, in a way he felt bad for Eponine, she couldn’t escape the court no matter how much she tried, no matter what she did, she was destined to return to it.
The kiss to his head made him squirm a bit indignantly, “Hey! I’m not a baby, you can’t kiss me like that anymore.” He complained as he huffed softly before looking away, “I’m not even sure what I’m looking for.” He finally admitted.

Marshall hadn’t even been looking at the stranger, until he noticed the Faye magic being used. Furrowed brow accompanied his gaze as it ran up the newcomer… then relaxed as he saw it was none other than Basil. Eponine had texted him, but Marshall had been so focused on finding Mara that he hadn’t thought much of it.
“My Prince… Excellent, very benevolent of you,” the noble jested with a smile. “How are you?” he asked, slowly raising from his seat as Basil approached out of respect.
“Finding Creation Peaks to your liking? I bet that impromptu tour of the mines was fancy, huh?”
.
When Marshall praised him it brought a grin to his face as he turned to look back at his own handiwork, it reminded him of his childhood, how despite only ever making ugly or horrid plants Marshall and his sister would still praise him.
“I’m well enough, been getting things at the auto shop ready, getting it open and accepting customers.”
At the mention of the mines he snorted and nodded, “Yeah, it’s something else. I expected it to be different, it certainly hasn’t let me down.”

Eponine looked away, remembering the conversation she had her with the young werewolf soon after the snowstorm. “Non… He is no longer with us. His body was found when the snow cleared. He has a wife in town still, though she has had nothing to do with me.” She explained. “He was a narcissist. He declared himself the new local Alpha, and demanded I reveal my species to him. Needless to say he was… less than happy when I refused to give into a bully.”
.
“Good riddance.” Basil murmured as he dropped the rag and moved to sit down across from Eponine. “Well it’s a good thing he’s gone and I’m glad you didn’t give into him, he sounds like he sucked.”
Looking away he fiddled with his fingers for a moment before looking over at his sister again, “Do you like it here otherwise?”

Eponine smiled, looking down shyly. She loved all her siblings, but her soft spot for Basil was an obvious one. “This particular werewolf tried to hurt me during the snow storm, if I didn’t have wolfsbane on me and he wasn’t distracted by something else, he would’ve got what he wanted. And I can handle the dark faye, they’re more an irritation than anything.”
As the French slipped out of his mouth, she smiled again, squeezing his hand. “Oui, I agree. These have been… very trying months. I only hope things can get better from now on.”
.
“This particular werewolf.. still with us?” He asked with a raise of his brow, “What did he want with you anyway?” He asked as he looked over at her, finally stopping his work on the car. When she reached out and squeezed his hand he smiled, grabbing the rag and wiping his hands again as he listened to her.
“They will, that much I believe in.” He said as he leaned against the car.

She smirked a little at that, moving forward to ruffle his hair. She admired his attitude towards his mother, it was definitely something he got from her, and she was sure the Queen hated her for it. “Now you are home, she will probably go back to complaining I am not betrothed to anyone. Clearly ruling over an entire species is so easy work, she can focus on such trivial matters. Though I do not feel she’d appreciate my eye is on a werewolf and not another faye.”
She folded her arms as he stayed focused on the car, sighing. “Yes I would make a fuss, there was a dangerous werewolf on the loose, and countless unexplained deaths. If I were not determined to keep the people safe, I would be leaving too.” He didn’t need to know that she nearly had. She assumed that was no longer on the cards.
.
When Eponine told him he was home he looked up at her, a weird sort of smile on his face. “I am home and there’s nothing she can do about that.” He said as he stared at his sister before looking back down at the car, “When aren’t we in danger?” He asked as he worked on the car, “Dangerous werewolves, dark faye, monsters in the dark. There’s always going to be something that comes after us, whether it be her or someone else. That’s why we should stick together. Nous sommes plus forts ensemble.”

Not a Long Time [Open]
@risingpeaksreblogs
The Light Faye hadn’t been feeling all that ok since the storm and the days that followed it. Even after his rescue, reuniting with his coworkers, family and Princess… Things still felt odd. He also hurt, knowing Flick was gone in such brutal way right under their noses… How could he approach Kayla now? Or Flick’s family? What would he say to Kaden?
He should had gone to work, but he felt unable to. Thankfully, he was allowed time off. Might as well, seeing how they had—right off the bat—offered it to him after everything they believed he’d gone through… Still, instead of staying home and resting, instead of seeking his fellow Light Faye, he’d end up sitting on a bus stop a mile or so away from My Alibi. “Mara, please…” he found himself praying before footsteps cut him off. “Careful!” he warned the other, pointing right in front of them. “They haven’t fixed it all up since the storm.” The sidewalk was cracked there, although it was anybody’s guess what exactly happened.
.
When a voice cut out and stopped him in his tracks he glanced over at them, when he recognized Marshall he raised a brow before glancing over at the cracked sidewalk. He wasn’t sure what exactly the other expected, he supposed he could step around it, it wasn’t terribly cracked. Maybe if someone came across it and didn’t realize they might trip over it.
Waving his hand over the cracks he watched multiple weeds spring up, along with dead or already dying flowers.
“There, now its even uglier and people can see something in their way.”

Eponine sighed as he chose not to talk about things, and she bit her lip. “Basil, I nearly lost you, my best friend, and the man I’m falling for, I can’t buy that whatever happened to you all is just ‘not important’. Still she moved back as he went back to the cars, pulling the phone out to text Marshall, confirming that the prince was definitely in town as well.
“The Queen cares about controlling what I do, while knowing she can’t. Why else do you think I was sent here with Marshall as an advisor? She does not trust me being here without the Court, and even then she makes it clear she is always watching.” She explained, finding a stool to sit on that wasn’t completely covered in grease.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming? Do you have somewhere to stay?”
.
Turning to look back at his sister he sighed, “But you didn’t, I’m still here, we all are.” He shrugged before looking away again. As she talked about the Queen caring about controlling what she does, “She can watch all she wants, I don’t care.” He said as he grabbed a tool and began working on the nearest car.
“If I told you, you’d have made a fuss and I didn’t want it to be a big deal.” He said as he glanced over at her before focusing back on the car.

Hearing the French made her smile shyly, never prouder of her efforts in raising her little brother than when he spoke to her in her mother tongue, though she also knew that he knew it was her weakness, and precisely why he’d often pull it out. She’d momentarily forgotten her worries and frustration, though they soon returned.
“Don’t act cute with me, Basil.” She sighed, moving towards him once he wiped off as much as he could, wrapping her arms around him. She closed her eyes and sighed, kissing his head, saying nothing for a few moments. “The Queen told me you were not at Court. That you were seen soon before the storm, and when I couldn’t find you…” Tears pricked her eyes. If she hadn’t had Kitty to keep an eye on, she would’ve lost her mind at the fear of losing literally everyone she cared about.
“Did… anyone hurt you? Are you okay?” She asked, checking him over for injuries, or anything he wasn’t telling her.
.
When his sister told him not to act cute he gave her a sly little grin and wrinkled his nose at her before suddenly he was being pulled in for another hug, this time getting a kiss to his head that made him close his eyes.
“The Queen didn’t seem to care where I was going when I made my leave from her presence. But the second I can’t be seen she calls asking.” He laughed, shaking his head as he pulled back and took note of the tears in Eponine’s eyes.
“I am fine, nobody hurt me. It was... just some weird bullshit. I don’t know.” He shook his head once more as he turned back to the car he’d been working on. “I don’t wanna talk about what happened while I was missing, it’s not important.”

Closed starter for @faeriexrings
Eponine had spent much of the time that people were missing stressed and overwhelmed, desperately trying to keep morale up through the diner, but with Kaleb and Marshall missing, it had been hard. Only made harder when she was summoned to speak to the Queen, the woman demanding to know where the Prince was, that he was last spotted entering the town before the snowstorm hit, and hadn’t been seen since.
After getting confirmation once the captured were all released, and seeing an advertisement for a new mechanic shop offering to help people with their vehicles following the bad weather she raced there, sighing when she spotted the familiar outline.
“Mon petit monstre, I nearly had an heart attack.” She sighed, moving to hug her brother before she saw the grease on his overalls and she wrinkled her nose. “At least clean up before we speak?”
.
When he’d come to Creation Peaks getting taken hadn’t been something he’d had in mind, but he’d stayed quiet, kept his head down, and he hadn’t make any trouble, nothing like his usual self. He’d managed to scape by and then once they’d all been released, well it did nothing to ease his confusion but he thought it better not to question it.
As he worked he heard the door open and when he looked up he barely caught sight of the sight of dark hair before arms were thrown around him.
The French tickled his ears as he snorted before pulling away and glancing down at his own appearance, “Qu'est-ce que vous attendiez? Tenue royale?” The language flowed easily off his tongue as he moved towards the back.
“Cleaning up is easier said than done, Ep. We’re surrounded by motor oil, grease, bikes and cars. Nothing in this shop is clean or sterile I’m afraid.” Even as he spoke he worked on wiping any excess grease from his hands with the cleanest rag he had at his disposal and walked back towards her.

[ thomas brodie-sangster, male, he/him ] whatever you think you know about BASIL THORNSHIELD, the 190 year old, BISEXUAL, LOCAL, it is likely time for you to start reconsidering. the rumored LIGHT FAYE is often described as LOYAL + PLAYFUL , but don’t let them fool you; they can also be BROODING + DISTRUSTFUL, which often has them regarded as the CHILD OF THE FOREST. they are a/an OWNER at MECHANIC SHOP, but it’s also said they are a PRINCE within the LIGHT FAYE COURT. whatever you hear, you can’t deny there’s more to them that meets the eye, and it’s time we start uncovering the truth.
History
Basil Thornshield was born as the youngest child of the Fae Queen, but he did not receive the same attention and love from his mother as his sisters did. Instead, his eldest sister, Eponine, took on the responsibility of raising him. She taught him about the world, how to fight and defend himself, and instilled in him a sense of loyalty and duty.
Growing up, Basil was always playful and mischievous, often causing trouble and getting into fights with other fae children. Basil always felt like he didn't quite fit in with the rest of his family. He was often more interested in tinkering with machines and gadgets than in traditional fae activities. Despite this, he had a close relationship with his sisters and often played pranks on them, showing his playful side.
As he got older, Basil became increasingly brooding and distrustful, likely as a result of his early experiences with his neglectful mother. He found it difficult to trust others, and this made it hard for him to form deep connections with people outside of his immediate family. However, once he did form a bond with someone, he was fiercely loyal to them.
Despite his mother's neglect, Basil still loved her and looked up to her as the Fae Queen. He believed that she had a grand plan for the Fae Kingdom and was determined to do his part in serving her. However, as he grew older, he began to see the flaws in her rule and how she put her own ambitions before the well-being of her people.
Eventually, Basil decided to move to Creation Peaks to be closer to Eponine, who had taken up residence in the area. He opened up a mechanic shop there, where he could indulge his passion for tinkering with machines. Although he was still somewhat distant with others, he found a sense of fulfillment in his work and was able to form a small circle of friends in the town. Throughout his life, Basil has struggled with his identity and his place in the world. He yearns for the love and acceptance of his mother, but also recognizes the flaws in her rule.
As for his sexuality, Basil is openly bisexual, but he doesn't make a big deal out of it. He's never been one to conform to traditional gender roles, so it feels natural for him to be attracted to people of all genders.
Overall, Basil's history and personality make him a complex and intriguing character, with a mix of playful and brooding tendencies that keep those around him on their toes.
Personality
He’s often been told that he’s more akin to a brooding puppy in both personality and demeanor. Often affectionately to his disdain.
He’s been told that when it comes to certain aspects he can be quite naïve, he’s still not sure what about him is naïve. He dreads the thought of it.
Determined and resourceful.
Headcanons/Other Facts
He misses his sister a lot, which is why he decided to move to Creation Peaks in order to be closer to her.
He still gets into trouble, some constantly wondering if he’d thrive more among the dark faye and their chaotic ways.
