Salutations to the Cosmos
So who am I, anyway?
At night, I write: typically mlm urban fantasy, which can range in tone from YA to erotica, depending on the particulars of subject matter. And of course, I read to keep myself somewhat sane.
By day, I'm a college student, which currently involves writing papers, occasionally making bad art, taking pictures, and dreaming of being organized enough for those pristine academia aesthetics to be representational rather than aspirational.
But mostly I'm a writer. I'll admit: the constant entreaties to start building your author brand get wearying, introvert that I am.
And yet there is wisdom there, of course. If I trust myself enough to believe that I have something worth saying, than I must also trust enough to believe that it is worth saying to more than my thin web of social ties. Creating engagement with others is thus a worthy goal. However, I admittedly find the act of 'marketing oneself' distasteful. Tumblr seemed like the less-intimidating social network to dip my toes into in that regard, being free, less overtly about marketing, and not requiring me to make videos.
I don't really have a syllabus for what this endeavor will contain, to be forthright.
But my goals are mostly to positively interact with others, have a place to post some of my short fiction about college boys with questionable coping skills, that generally languish as I work on my novel. As well as to have a place to talk about writing craft, whatever that may look like. To deconstruct narrative, redefine the attributes of a hero, compare the varying methods of laying out a story. Perhaps to discuss what books and resources earn their keep and which do not, to consider the tropes I am enamored of, and the ways in which they function in the arc of a story.
Tldr: I'm a queer, introverted nerd trying to move my online community beyond texting. I'll probably write friction, and write about writing fiction or reading fiction, and maybe even about being queer while writing and reading fiction, or my dozens of interests and side-hobbies. I'm far too ADHD to have a niche.
I'm also trying to do Nanowrimo when I have a paper comparing the propaganda styles of different Roman Emperors due on Monday, and various other assignments to juggle.
So at heart I am a creature of chaos. Typically a raven, to be specific.
