What happened here? Who did this? My Lord, you are The Dreaming, The Dreaming is you. With you gone as long as you were, the realm began to… decay and crumble. And the residents? The palace staff? I'm afraid most have gone. Gone? Some went looking for you. And the others? They thought, perhaps, you'd grown weary of your duties and-- What? Abandoned them? Had they so little faith in me? Do my own subjects not know me?

Loki + Sexuality
In response to this comment and this ask, here are some comic examples of Loki demonstrating his sexuality (not just in terms of identity, but in terms of having a lot of sex and enjoying it.) As a disclaimer: none of this is meant to reflect badly on Loki; his sexuality or his gender identity.
This is in response to the idea that Loki was treated like a “glorified slutty lapdog” in Ragnarok, because of the possibility of him having a sexual affair with The Grandmaster. Not only is this blatant slut-shaming, it ignores that it is in character for Loki to use his sexuality to his advantage, for fun or pleasure.
Final note: This isn’t a post about whether or not Loki’s relationship, or lack thereof, with The Grandmaster was handled well. It is simply to address the notion that “slutty” Loki is out of character, especially when we look at the comics and how his sexuality is represented.
cw, tw: discussions of sex and sexuality, mild references to bestiality, mentions of rape/sexual abuse, slut-shaming, effemiphobia
So, let’s start:
Young Avengers Vol. 2 Issue 15
Loki flirts with David Alleyne, offering a New Years kiss. Loki explains that his sexual identity isn’t defined the same way, but that Loki is “the patron god of certain popular ones [sexual acts]” which may refer in part to the fact that Loki is repeatedly accused of ergi (unmanliness and submissiveness) due to his magic, his gender fluidity, and the kinds of sex he’s had.
Now, it’s pretty normal to flirt with other people, but Loki’s association with “certain popular [sex acts]” - most likely ones that position him as unmanly or submissive - give him a “slutty” reputation that comes under fire by other gods, including Odin. An infamous example of this occurs in the following:
Loki Vol. 2 Issue 4
There’s a big mythological basis for this tale, which you can read up on here. To summarize, Loki crashes a party where the Aesir are getting wasted. Loki being Loki, he tries to stir up trouble by accusing others of essentially being “sluts,” to which Odin responds by essentially calling Loki out as being a “slut.” Mainly, Loki lived as a woman for a time and gave birth to many children.
Loki is as well known for having lots of sex as he is for having a lot of children, both by siring them and giving birth himself. Even if the particular universe you are interested in (…like the MCU) doesn’t cover the fact that Loki can do this, it’s been revealed that there are at least universes where this is true. See:
Loki Vol. 1 Issue 2
In it, Balder reveals that Loki has in fact fathered and given birth to children with different beings. Loki isn’t just well known for having a lot of sex and giving birth, but having a lot of sex with different erm… “people.” (They’re not always “people,” but that’s an entirely different post. Let’s just say Loki is a monster fucker) This is explicitly acknowledged in the comics to varying degrees.
The comics have been shy about exploring this side of Loki in non-disparaging terms, and comics don’t have the best history when it comes to women and LGBT characters. LGBT-friendly representations of Loki are more recent, like the Young Avengers example above, but also see:
Loki: Agent of Asgard (Various)
In Issue 1, Thor accuses Loki of creating “a most terrible slash upon their internet.” Loki corrects his wording, replacing “slash” with “hacked,” but says “although I have done the other thing too. Ultimately it’s in reference to slash fiction, which can be taken to mean that Loki wrote it and/or that he was the subject of a lot of it. Either way, Loki is well aware of it.
In issue 2, Loki is talking to the all-mothers about Lorelei. He recalls his sexual encounters with Lorelei (which date back to much older comics.) While Thor was raped by Lorelei through sorcery, Loki doesn’t have the heart to tell Thor that his own encounters with Lorelei were consensual. Loki chose to have sex with Lorelei, unlike others who were put under a spell.
While there are these references to Loki’s relationships with women in bronze age comics, there are hints of Loki’s relationship with men that are more open to interpretation, such as his reaction to Sigurd in issue 4:
where Loki drops the suggestion that Sigurd could be flirting with him, instead of his friend Verity. There’s also this panel from issue 12 of Loki hanging out with Fandral (who is also known for… getting around.) Fandral has his shirt completely unbuttoned for some mysterious reason:
(just two guys laying on the grass a feet apart because they’re not gay)
…but while some comics drop hints, others are more blunt. Loki tells Spiderman that he has a daughter (Tessa Black) in The Amazing Spider-Man Issue 504, but he says it in a way that explicitly confirms he’s had a lot of sex over the centuries with different people:
There are other examples that lend to this interpretation of Loki, but this is a sample of comics that show Loki’s sexuality in different contexts. The origins of his children vary depending on the source, but they were all a result of Loki’s various relationships with various beings. Loki has sex for fun, for pleasure, and for his own gain.
I didn’t include examples of “Lady Loki” in modern comics because while the newest version of Lady Loki is all Loki, the most infamous version involves Loki wearing Sif’s form for his own gain. That involves dressing Sif’s form in revealing clothing. Loki also disguises himself as Scarlet Witch and dresses similarly. I’m open to Loki dressing however Loki wants, but I think this is mostly a result of male comic book artists not being able to comprehend a “female” version of a male comic book character without sexing them up to a ridiculous degree.
It is not out of character for Loki to have sex, even with those he has just met or knows very little. It’s not out of character for Loki to use sex to his advantage, which is what he could have done in Ragnarok. (It’s not even explicitly confirmed, just hinted at) So, if you have an issue with Loki being characterized as “slutty” what you mean is that you have an issue with Loki.
