My Story Can Be Yours Too
1K posts
A working student, tracking and hopelessly trying to remember the past. Events that happen to me, may seem extraordinary, but really, if you look closely, they are just a string of ironic events that could happen to any ordinary individual.

hiking Garibaldi was one of the most elevating experiences. hiking is not only physically testing, but also pushes your mental ability to get past the pain and fatigue and motivate yourself to continue and not turn back.
after a grilling friday night of non-stop uphill we reached our camp sight, collapsed into our sleeping bags and passed out.
the next morning we hiked black tusk, this was probably the most challenging hike we did, the hike was a gradual uphill followed by a steep uphill. so there were no breaks. it was hot. we sweat through our clothes and it looked as though we had showered. what i would have given for a cool shower- just to rinse of the culmination of dirt, sunscreen, and sweat. anyway, the views were perfect breaks. we stopped and took in the breathtaking colorful flowers, the fresh air, the smooth water flowing from the streams, the bluest skies, and bluer lakes, the jagged mountains, and snowy peaks - a human couldn't design something more mesmerizing than what nature has created. we had lunch up top, and probably consumed the world, protien bars, penut butter and jam sandwitches, chalvah, pringles, fruit, so many pringels though.. we went down and relaxed by the lake for the rest of the evening.
the sunday we woke up at a reasonable hour... and by reasonable i mean around 10.. we made a hearty breakfast and were off! this was supposedly a easier hike, but one that rushed us with adrenaline. the panarama ridge was a multi-terrain hike, with rock climbing, snow and ice, rocky paths, and rolling green hills. we were ready for the challange. we worked our way up, slowly but surly, and the operative word here is slowly. we hiked up the snow, up the rocks, and were a few mintues behind these super buff fire fighters. we assumed they knew what they were doing and followed their path... well... they rock climbed and we followed. we basically scaled a mountain - and with a heavy backpack - i thought it was going to be my dying day. thankfully we all survived. but you could look behind you and see the edge of the cliff... it was scary beyond. would not do that again! once we got to the top, our jaws dropped. in grade 10 when i did the hike the view was blocked with fog and clouds - now the day was clear and it felt like i could see forever. we were amongst the moutains, birds flew at our level, in the distance we could see black tusk which we had hiked yesterday, we looked down and saw the lake. on our hike down we were singing when we saw a bear, the bear saw us and ran - but not as fast as i wanted to. we blew whistles and abba pulled out the bear spray. i for the first time felt vulnerable in this natural haven. i had forgotten my whistle and my father constantly reminded me that in the army id be court martialed  for that... and that i must always be prepared. we walked back to the campsite. never had bread, maccaroni and cheese, hot dogs and chalvah,  trail mix tasted so good. each food we had tasted like a luxury. i had a new laywer of dirt that gave the illusion of a tan, and enough punctures of skin to think that i had become a blood donor for mosquitos.
our final day we spent by the lake, soaking in the sun and enjoying the priceless view. we hiked down and were ready for a shower and mcdonalds. classic.
people we ran into:
a girl amanda from high school who i had puked on in grade 10... awkward.
jacob and andrea from camp who i had worked with a few years back - it was neat to see familiar faces on the mountain
and some random Israeli wearing sandalim which my dad half mocked in Hebrew until he realized that the guy responded in Hebrew and was an Israeli studying plant bio in Carolina
