Everyone going HUH?? clearly has not been paying attention to ANYTHING Carlos has said since the start of his career. He’s ALWAYS been vocal about driver safety, and he’s always been open to criticizing regulations.

In addition to that, it makes perfect sense; you’ve picked arguably the two most articulate people (not in a weird way, but in a “very good at explaining concepts and communicating ideas in a precise and accessible manner” way) active the grid today, you’ve picked someone who is FAMOUSLY liked by everyone in the paddock so he has cache in that sense, you have picked someone who can be diplomatic as needed and blunt as needed, and you have someone who, from what we’ve seen, is likely to get very few restrictions on what he says and does from his team.

It’s the only correct choice.

I think the subliminal point of Carlos replacing Seb, that it's important not to overlook, is that the GPDA clearly feel they're in a position now where its vital that they have two active drivers - which is presumably as a direct consequence of the FIA's recent behaviour.

Y'all need to understand that the GPDA is a trade union that all of your favorite drivers (and hated ones) are a part of. It's not some random organization or little club. Your favorite drivers voted on having Carlos Sainz as the director. You understand this, right?

not to *carlando* again but I keep thinking about how Lando really is using that working at a pet's home thing as basically saying they were destined to meet in any variation of the universe. like yes, their F1 dreams worked out and they became teammates and friends. BUT the question is suddenly "what would you/Carlos have done if you wouldn't have reached your F1 dream?" and his answer is still the same for both of them .... they would have worked at a pet rescue .... they would have worked in the same field and likely crossed paths in some form anyway .... even without F1 ....
