Wow, it’s Women’s Dive Day already?! Some people might ask, why should women get an annual dive day? Well, it wasn’t long ago that scuba diving was a predominantly male-governed sport. And some smaller specialty diving still is, including technical, rebreather and exploratory diving. ⁣ ⁣ So I get asked quite often, how does a woman get into this type of scuba diving? It might involve different steps for each individual, but there is one thing in common - attitude: ⁣ 1. You must have it! ⁣ 2. You must not take it! ⁣ ⁣ To be exact, here are some tips from my personal experiences as a “she” in the field of technical diving:⁣ ⁣ ✔️ Forget what society says you “must” do⁣ ✔️ Work for satisfaction, not recognition⁣ ✔️ You don’t need to do prove anything to anyone ⁣ ✔️ Whether you want to have children is NOBODY’S business!⁣ ✔️ If men are intimidated by you, that’s entirely their problem⁣ ✔️ NEVER accept harassment or assault as “something that happens”⁣ ✔️ You will always be underestimated- use it to your advantage⁣ ✔️ IT’S OKAY TO HAVE FUN! (Don’t worry, that’s why men do it too) ⁣ ⁣ Sadly, non-men still have struggles and challenges in the world of scuba diving, but things have improved and I hope they’ll continue to do so. Great men are the ones who recognise those struggles and try to understand (a big thanks to those men) 👏🏽 But although breaking barriers is never easy, it only ever makes you stronger and makes the achievement mean so much more. ⁣ ⁣ Happy #padiwomensdiveday to all my fellow non-male divers and supporters of gender equality! Rezeki yang sedikit tetapi diberkati Allah adalah lebih baik dan tinggi darjatnya berbanding rezeki yang banyak tetapi tidak diberkati. Tidak menjadi soal sama ada banyak atau sedikit rezeki itu. Apa yang lebih penting adalah rezeki yang berkat. Biar sedikit asal cukup daripada banyak tapi sering tidak mencukupi. Sesungguhnya rezeki Allah itu cukup luas.
