Mike Avon Oeming on how to draw Jay and Silent Bob
“The first thing I'd suggest you do is call up Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes, and have them come over to pose for you. They're really nice guys, and if you have pizza and beer (or Kool-Aid for you under 21), I'm sure they will be more than happy to drop by.
The first thing you may notice would be size difference. No matter what the girls say, size does matter. After all, Jay is about two inches taller than Bob, and Bob about two feet wider than Jay. Bob's jacket will add to his volume. Jay's height is accentuated by his long hair, vertical strip and drooping arms, while Bob's beard and hat add to his width.
Note the difference in posture. Although both are laid back, Jay has a bit of a slouch. He. doesn't hide anything physically- he's all there, an open book, what you see is what you get. Bob, however, often hides himself by placing his hands in his pockets, or shields himself behind his cigarette, especiolly when lighting it. I always saw this as part of Bob's personality: He's quiet and reserved, as though he's holding back some knowledge.”
